A Queens man wanted for fatally sucker punching a 64-year-old man posted on Facebook just hours after the brutal blow that he “had to put my hands on somebody last night.”
Cops are now hunting for Mathew Smith, 42, who is accused of pouncing on Patrick Gorman, 64, at the intersection of Queens Blvd. and Main St. in Briarwood just after midnight on June 26.
“I had to bring him back down off of that cloud he was sittin' on,” Smith wrote on Facebook. “I garrantee (sic) you before he opens his mouth next time he'll think about it.”
Gorman, who lived alone just a couple blocks from where he was attacked, travelled the country to attend sports games, relatives said. On the day of the assault, he was returning home from Baltimore, where he watched the Orioles play the Tampa Rays.

Investigators believe Gorman bumped into Smith’s wife and said "I'm sorry, excuse me," — only to be punched out by Smith.
Smith’s Facebook comments seem to confirm that theory.
“Dude thought it was ok to disrespect wifey while on the bus thinkin' nobody was gonna pop up. Not gonna go into details but I had to smack'em to sleep,” Smith wrote on Facebook the day of the attack. “I kinda feel bad though cause of what he had to deal with last night on Queens Blvd.”
Gorman was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital, then transferred to Jamaica Hospital, where he died later that day.

The city Medical Examiner concluded last week he died from a combination of the punch, complications from a stroke and a contributing heart condition. His death was ruled a homicide.
Police released video on Wednesday of the fateful punch, and surveillance photos of Smith and his wife, who cops had not yet been able to identify.
Investigators were soon able to identify Smith by matching the surveillance photo of him to a mugshot they had of him from a prior arrest. A tipster also came forward to identify Smith and his wife, Elena Makarova, 39.
But cops have not been able to find the couple and are now asking the public’s help tracking them down.

Smith, a self-published poet, downplayed the deadly attack on Facebook.
“I had to make him eat his words that's all,” he wrote. “I just gave him something to think about.”
Smith and Makarova live about a half mile from where Gorman was attacked. On Aug. 18 Makarova announced on her own Facebook that she and Smith had married.
On Monday, Smith posted a cryptic message: “I'm so glad there's so many people with my name on this s--t. Do not look for me at all. Lol.”

Earlier this week, friends and relatives of Gorman criticized police for waiting more than four months to release the surveillance video of the suspects.
But Gorman’s brother Bryan Gorman said Thursday he didn’t want to second guess the cops.
“It’s very possible that the police were doing things all along and this is just becoming public now,” he said. “It’s something that could have been — but that doesn’t mean that the police were doing nothing.
An NYPD spokeswoman said detectives weren’t sure until the Medical Examiner issued its findings on Oct. 29 that the death was a homicide rather than being caused solely by Gorman’s pre-existing conditions.
