Not necessarily because they can easily become an oligarch especially if they are not socially conscious. Black billionaires doesn't equate to people of the African Diaspora reaping the benefits.

well there are more than enough former NBA players, NFL players from the modern era to put up the capitol. Start small, localize around the HBCU's and areas where Black people have large employed populations (there was a article outlining this a few months back), mainly in the south. Use the HBCU'S as a feeder system.

That shift of power would definitely change the system. Top guys going HBCU would be the tide turner in collegiate sports period.

Advertising is still going to be geared to white money. If there were a black-run league, it would still need a FEW white players and coaches to compete(otherwise it would seem too black for white fans). The white-run league would still have the upper-hand if the average white fan even thinks there is a racial component to this shit. And whites are 70 percent of this country.

Basketball quality wouldn't matter. What matters is 14 percent vs 70 percent. Leagues will follow the money.

Best thing to focus on is the player's unions in both the NFL and NBA.

What black in all sports need to do is own everything around their teams and stadiums. All the restaurants, parking lots, stores, everything. All black athletes should own mass amounts of properties in and around what they do. Let the billionaires keep lobbying for stadiums and tax breaks while we own everything. Soon as you hear a new stadium might be being built, buy up shit in that area. Each black athlete could buy a street of home, vacant or not in cities like Atlanta, Detroit, St. Louis, etc. Own the entire town. Try to sell to black investors and homeowners. Keep the money circulating back to black.
 
A seismic shift in black collective thought would have to take place on a level most can't even fathom as long as the white man prints the money and pays exorbitant amounts to our most talented.

You askin top college recruits to forego scolarships to big schools to play in front of the world and go to HBCU's. You askin NBA players to just step away from a lifestlye they accustomed to. Man these cats can't even stay on strike long enough to hurt the owners pockets.

You might want a black league but you're the consumer. If the players don't want it...
 
It's other sports in which we can invest in that we could dominate if we cared about it like soccer. World's most popular sport

And players could just pile on Team Jordan and/ or force more black ownership. Jordan obliges to help out the community. Someone buy the Nets, the Hawks, and the Magic. And it's on from there. Make these clubs the most profitable and the most competitive through free agency, work from there.:cool:

Lexus sales went down as soon as y'all negros started driving them...CAC's switched to Volkswagen and Audi. You think Lexus gonna put a commercial on a "black" league game? Eh Sheeeiitt. Car companies make the most profit off of LEASES...and black folks don't "lease" vehicles....therefore no real product loyalty. This ain't about feelings...this is numbers...period.

7. The way this SHOULD happen is for about 30 top NBA players to BITE THE BULLETT and not play until there is a certain percentage of black ownership. Lebron and Melo like them whips they can buy WAAY too much to forgo that paper for ya'll ass.

8. "Black" ownership of a "team" only guarantees those investors (maybe 10-15 muthafuckas) actually "own" anything...its just for show...it doesn't help black unemployment or circulate any additional currency through black people...those owners buy Bentleys...and last I checked, there is no black ownership in Bentley.

9. This isn't about "owning" a league just to say a black owner is there. None of that helps "black people" as a whole. What helps us is ownership in companies that EMPLOY black people so that revenue flows through black hands as much as it does CAC to CAC.

To sum up what you typed.....it wont work until they got things organized.

I doubt the idea would be to cater to an all Black audience if the league was Black owned. I also doubt 100% of the White folks only support the NFL, NBA etc because its owned by White people. Racist White folks are at every game....but at the end of the day ...folks just want to be entertained.

The main issue preventing Black athletes from organizing and setting THE BASIS for a Black owned league is the fact that your average Black athlete is content with being an employee. Most of them aint built nor do they have the patience to deal with the grind of running their own shit.

Even if they didnt have clauses in their contracts that prevented them from hustling on the side during lockouts....for the most part your biggest names of the NBA would instead sit and wait for their owners to work things out.

Black folks can own their own league.....its just gonna take a whole lot of time and effort (and wasted money) to make it work.

May not be as big as the NBA, NFL etc....but imho....a lot of those Black athletes could create a nice side hustle...but most of em aint doing it.
