and receive their gifts. Each giver may also publicly give the
new couple advice, and women carrying pots like this have
been known to say things like "Mary, today I give a big
pot; when I come to visit to you, I do not want you to cook
me a small meal, and say it is because I only had a small
pot". But even this statement, has a more serious metaphorical
meaning, since as a rule, African speak in parables, and
allusions whose deeper implication is understood after long
inspection, introspection or experience...
