Yeah it is it made me really sit back and appreciate the uniqueness of being black. There are NO other people like us and we have to appreciate the beauty thats with in us.
Alot of guys look at me crazy when I say India.Arie and Serena Williams are dimes in my eye (Hell when I was younger like, 14 I had a serious crush on Big Lez from Rap city).... I cant imagine a world full of halle berry's... she's pretty and all but you know ....

About 8 years ago someone referred to me as a Hottentot when we were walking through the food court during our lunch break and she felt everyone was staring at me. I thought she was insulting me but then she explained the story of the Hottentots.
I was fascinated and read more about it. But the word has been used in reference to JLo and Beyonce in a few articles here and there.

What have we done? LOL What havn't we done??? I can't say the same for black women because I appreciate but for you to question what we have done for black women like we haven't is total disrespect. I was blessed to be raised in a 2 parent home. So I can speak on VOLUMES on what black men have did for they're black women. My uncle sacrificed to help take care of his mother my grandmother instead of putting her in a nursing home. When my mother falls ill God forbid... I'm following suit.

From the 1st breath of man UP UNTIL RECENT... AND RECENT I MEAN THE 80's... The black man and woman co existed in perfect harmony. You act like you forgot the sacrifices black men did and have done for they're families (the woman is APART of the family FYI). You couldn't help seeing black complete families up until recent for many reasons. One MAIN reason was that we were ALL that we had in this racist land and the MAN 90% of the time worked to help SUPPORT his family just to come home and help raise his babies and whoop ass on his disobedient kids.
The black man didnt just come home and kick up his feet and said "Wheres my dinner Bitch" Like Whitey... He came home and continued the nurturing process with his woman. He is the authority figure of the house. (Hell up until my mother and my pops divorced I was in bed at 9PM in HIGH SCHOOL.)
When his woman broke down he was there to help pick up. When she needed help with the kids He was there to do his job. You claim a woman raising kids is a special thing. Its a part of being HUMAN.

not saying all black women have degrees...but in comparission to black men we are getting a higher education in larger numbers

wow....well i never grew up in "the hood"...both my parents aree still married...and my father has a job (he actually has been blessed with a job to allow my mother to stay at home and put both myself and my sister thru college)...so please lets simmer down with the extreme assumptions...u reeally dont know me sweetiewhere are u getting your information from
nbc news recently did a feature story on black women...according to them the ratio of black women to black men in college is 7:1
not saying all black women have degrees...but in comparission to black men we are getting a higher education in larger numbers

untied we stand divided we fall..i agree we do need to do a better job as working together as a community

Never grew up in the hood. Cool. I was raised in "the hood" and seen both sides. The Lord blessed me with understanding a perception to learn from my mistakes while still knowing how it feels to struggle. Knowing the bond of a family and seeing the destruction of the family structure. Thank God they'res more women than some who don't agree with your views and see the beauty of a black man and recognize what black men did and are doing for they're women.
