so me and my ex was talking she says "300 when u took the job working the child sexual abuse our relationship changed" and im like real talk if u had to see what i saw everyday some of your desire would die also, my question to her was yes u sit behind a desk all day and crunch numbers do u think i u had to do what i did you could come home and just function. So to the ladies of sol do u think i was wrong for ending the relationship and taking the job in the unit that she didnt want me too

I'm a male and I hope you do not mind my two cents...

I work for the Health Department, specifically with HIV/AIDS/STDs so yes, there are certain days that after hearing all of the sad and horror stories you are not in the mood.

However, to be fair, ANY job, whether you work with abused people, STDs, are a doctor, work on Wall Street, behind a desk, "crunch numbers", or take orders at a counter can be stressful enough to put you out of the mood.

It is the strain and stress of the job, that puts you out of the mood. The key is to separate your work from your personal life. A stressful job obviously can put stress on a relationship and it is up to both parties to find a way to identify, release, and deal with that stress so as it does not poison the relationship.

You not always being in the mood, and taking the job she did not want you to take is a separate issue (I mean it is your career and you need to make money), while perhaps a factor (though more likely a convenient excuse), I think that there are more root causes as to why you ended the relationship.

lol @ her calling you 300...sorry, sidetracked.

I think your explanation on why your drive was different was completely reasonable and understandable. As mentioned by Noir, stresses of the job definitely affect our sexual life.

Is there more to it though? Why didn't she want you to take the job? Was it only because your sex drive decreased?
