ESPN NBA Countdown host Rachel Nichols caught being white & racist.......

So it's interesting which so called sports media and sports journalism outlets have NOT really covered this story...

But will break their collective neck to pull in something ANYTHING to discredit an athlete

And at the same time cry about "politics" in sports.
That's what I hate the most. They are so guarded, but can't wait to jump on anything the players are doing

How did she think she got her job, there is a reason why there are no fat unattractive female sportcasters.

ESPN seems tone deaf

Yesterday's show didn't go over well, so they threw on Jalen & Jacoby and Highly Questionable

They didn't know that having Perk and Richard Jefferson speak on a situation that didn't involve them wasn't going to go over well? That's why you can tell they don't have many black people in management and decision making positions. Perk and Rich should have pushed back.

I'd be surprised if they had ANY high-level decision-making black people working there.

Its amazing how bad they are at handling this shit.

Amin made a good point, so the hot mic which is used on a phone or iPad wasn't even Rachel's control. But the story was put out there like she didn't know how to use it. That also doesn't make ESPN look as bad and places the blame on Rachel.

ESPN has problems. Like LeBatard said after Erin Andrews. And when I read up on that shit, they grilled her about it to assure she didn't do it herself.

If I was their other talent, I'd be worried about people listening and recording my conversations.

That's why for work I cover my camera and make sure I'm doing anything when I join a Teams/Zoom/Webex meeting.

So the illegal shit they ignore, but they punish Kayla Johnson?

And they had a whole year to plan for this shit...

A real shit show...

ESPN’s Malika Andrews to Replace Rachel Nichols During NBA Finals

ESPN’s Rachel Nichols is being replaced by Malika Andrews for the network’s sideline coverage of the NBA Finals, which begin Tuesday night between the Milwaukee Bucks and Phoenix Suns. Andrews worked as a sideline reporter in the NBA “bubble” last year after joining the channel in 2018. “We believe this is best decision for all concerned in order to keep the focus on the NBA Finals,” the network said via New York Post reporter Andrew Marchand. “Rachel will continue to host The Jump.” The switch comes after Nichols had to apologize for comments she made about a colleague at ESPN in a call to Adam Mendelsohn, an adviser to LeBron James, and Rich Paul, James’s agent. (Mendelsohn himself had to apologize for comments he made about “#MeToo and Black Lives Matter” in the same conversation.) Audio from the call, which took place in July 2020, was released in a New York Times story on July 4. In it, Nichols, who is white, criticizes ESPN, complaining that fellow on-air reporter Maria Taylor, who is Black, was given a pregame hosting opportunity because of the network’s “crappy longtime record on diversity.” “If you need to give her more things to do because you are feeling pressure about your crappy longtime record on diversity — which, by the way, I know personally from the female side of it — like, go for it,” she says in the audio. “Just find it somewhere else. You are not going to find it from me or taking my thing away.” The comments discredit Taylor, her talent, and her experience as a sports analyst for nearly a decade. She is currently slated to host the pregame and halftime coverage during this year’s NBA Finals, but Taylor’s contract is set to expire later this month, potentially in the middle of the NBA Finals.

Nichols apologized for her remarks on her daily program The Jump on Monday. “So the first thing they teach in journalism school is don’t be the story. And I don’t plan to break that rule today or distract from a fantastic Finals,” Nichols said on the ESPN2 program. “But I also don’t want to let this moment pass without saying how much I respect, how much I value our colleagues here at ESPN, how deeply, deeply sorry I am for disappointing those I hurt — particularly Maria Taylor — and how grateful I am to be part of this outstanding team.”

Honestly everyone’s reaction sounds like they believe Rachel said the only reason Maria has her careeer is because she’s Black.

It's unfortunate because I see Maria standing out in the freezing cold during football season doing interviews...i aint never seen Rachel outside doing any of that so in theory, she SHOULD be making more

The bubble was like jail, like sleeping with a prison guard...standards can't be too high :dunno:

All my fellas that been in the Military (especially the army and marines) know that there's fiiiine and then there's military fine..i remember when i was down at benning for basic training about the sixth week with all them dudes there, the lunch lady started looking good...on the outside she looked liked the mother on house of payne, but when she does her hair a certain way...nm :smh:

Lol....espn say they specialize in sports not human resources. Bitchasses had a year to take care of this. maria deserves the jobs and assignments she's getting. rachel had that flash hit her like it do all these female sideline reporters. shelf life just like a NFL player

We all know it bro. The ugliest bitch becomes a superstar

I disagree. He gives great info on the business of sports, calls out coon media, and just had a great interview with Judge Joe Brown. Kwame is more popular and respected online than any talking head on ESPN or Fox. And several of his predictions or takes have come to fruition.

I see but it's nothing you haven't heard before, we know how the game go.

JJB is everywhere, he does video with no name dudes too.... it's no secret all of this is basic knowledge.

The problem with Kwame is he starts dumbing it down with "mommas cooking" and says the N word too much, he's too street and that's gonna attract only a certain audience, not going to attract others.

i wish we had more intellectuals to join in, Dr. Tommy Curry and people like him, Boyce is a clown.

That's the thing, they never thought of a plan or what to do if this ever became public? Deadspin posted about it, but it was minor, because there was no audio along with it. So the story came and went.

Nobody there thought about what to do if it leaked? They knew Kayla and Maria had it, so who knows who else had the recording. Especially with the way they have been laying off. They didn't think of finding out who did what to at least protect themselves?

They suck at management and dealing with people.

the bitch should have apologized a year ago......
ESPN should have did something about it a year ago.....

mufuckas waited to late for the "im sorrys" and doing damage control.
Fuck her and ESPN

She did apologize a year ago and ESPN did do something about it a year ago.

The info leaked publicly and now they also all have to address it publicly.
