I've always wondered, if it weren't for him simply deciding to return that one year to the Pacers, how much longer would ESPN have kept Bonk in the studio before they fired him? It feels like if I were the person that had to ask him to come into my office to fire him, the moment it was announced that he was returning to the Pacers, I would've been jumping for joy, because what would've been an uncomfortable firing is now just uncomfortable phone call 8 months later saying, "ay, we don't even need you to come back."
