Educated Dominicans Admit Dominicans Are Black

Dominicans raised in the Dominican Republic are not told the truth about their origin. Today, Dominicans living in the United States have taken courses that have helped them to discover their true identity by tracing it back to Africa. They are presented with evidence that convinced them. Today, they have admitted that all Dominicans are black. Those educated Dominicans are doing a good job helping other Dominicans who are ignorant or delusional about their origin to rediscover their Black, Haitian and African roots.

I've met Haitians darker then me who say they ain't Black because they got wavy hair.

White Supremacy is a Mugg.

I think that we are getting race, skin color, nationality and ancestry mixed up. Dominicans are Dominicans, first are foremost. I think that what many of them (and countless others, including many Americans) have denied is their African ancestry. Many people of color don't recognize and appreciate their link to the motherland...and I truly believe that this goes back to lack of education and a dilution of "our" history. Knowing who you are is highly dependent on knowing where you came from. It really has less to do with your skin color...but it could just be a matter of semantics. Just my $.02

Why do people call themselves 'black'? :smh:

A person without claim to land is a lost person. People really need to stop letting the tricks of your society devalue yourselves. Better off calling yourselves negro if you call yourselves black.

Like many growing up, every feburary you had to do a book report, well my report was where do you come from. In a nutt shell, I found that many african were explorer's and some sent out there king/war lord by way of exile.

Hence the our culture, expand's. Thus the 5 shades of brown is born, and climate control makes the skin tone adapt. Now, 25 years later, I've done allot of travelling world wide, and I seen people that by eye contact you know they have the African genetic code... Here's another thought, look at the women from Brazil, notice the hair, and skin tone some curly, some striaght, if that isn't an example of what the climate impact on genetic's...

BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL.... BE PROUD...

a lot of our brothers and sisters in central and south america are DELUSIONAL about their race......most won't change. the only difference between us all that are in the americas, is that their slave ships went a little farther to the south than ours in the U.S.

one of the reasons u gotta Rate Jamaica. Jamaica has historically been the most in your face connected to africa country in the region.

You have a strong point. But sadly most people will not understand. There's no such thing as a Black person. Black is an adjective that describes a noun, so then how can black be our means of identification. Even the color of our skin isn't black, the darkest human on earth still has a dark brown hue. Most of our Moorish brethren still don't know the truth about ourselves. The only thing we know is what this society tells us.

It's kinda pathetic that they need to be educated on the facts, when it's so blatantly obvious, just by looking in the mirror that they are of African heritage.

It's just as pathetic that many many black people in America need to be educated on the fact that they are African, when it's so blatantly obvious.

Your accusation is pale in comparison. But it has 'some' merit. I'm not one of those African-Americans unaware of my African and West-Indian heritage/lineage.

Did I hit a nerve?

^^ *if* this question is directed at me.. what accusation did I make? I'm just stating a fact. Many many Black people in America are ignorant of the fact that they are indeed African. period. No nerve hit.. just a pure, simple, fact. Dominicans are victims of white supremacy/mis-education just as so-called negroes in the United States. I just didn't want to be pointing the finger at them (Dominicans) without acknowledging the ignorance in America.

Ok, whatever...

But the thread is about Dominicans, not Blacks/African-Americans or So-Called Negroes as you say. (Which is why I made my statement in the first place). It's common knowledge for Blacks/African-Americans that we are of African Ancestry.

Dominicans are Black/African right? So this thread isn't just about Dominicans. You can't have it both ways.. you want them to identify with Africa but then you want to single them out as ignorant Dominicans? :smh: Like somone said, we are the same people, just dropped off on different Islands. There is enough ignorance to go around and it's not just segregated to the Island of Hispaniola.

You seem to be part of the problem.... unintentionally I hope.

you make a good point. at the same time, however, i refuse to identify myself or my people any derogatory term that colonists/europeans may have called us with in the past as well.

You're very emotional about this.

Even though they are of Afican decent, Dominicans still have their own culture and history and a history that defines them as a specific Latino,Spanish speaking ethnic group.

They do have African blood running through their veins, but that doesn't necessarily mean they are African and or Black/African-American by culture. Despite the ignorance and denial of African heritage, they do have a very rich history, tasty foods and some beautiful women (and I just love some Dominican pussy... mmm mmm mmm!)

How did you become a mod?

What exactly am I emotional about?

Most people have their own culture.. that's regional. Even in the USA people in the South have a different cultures/foods than people up North (i.e Grits vs Cream of Wheat). People on the continent of African have different cultures, even within the same country. So I don't get the point you're making.

Maybe you should go back and read my post because you seem to be missing the "boat". My point is, Dominicans are ignorant of their history just as Black people in America are ignorant of their history.. and to point the finger at them without acknowledging the fact that here in America (and in Cuba, Haiti, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Brasil.. and everywhere else Black people live) some of the same ignorance prevails is just.. well, its just IGNORANT.

Your statement about them having African blood not making them African is just but one example of that ignorance. As I stated in my previosu post (that you obviously didn't read). Some Africans were dropped off in on different Islands and some in America.. but they are the same people.. of course different cultures develop. that doesn't change the facts.

smh... I'm not really in the mood to play ping-pong with 'contrary' types such as yourself... let's just leave it as is. esta bien?

Funny thing is whenever I go to Providence the Cape Verdian chicks out there don't claim their "blackness" even though Cape Verde is in Africa....I should say about 70% of the Cape Verde chicks I've come in contact with act that way.

Y'all keep trying to reason on the internet - that is impossible to do

QUESTION TO ALL:
I understand that Latinos are a mix of Spaniard and Indian/Indigenous/Asiatic people Africans were introduced to those areas as well

So what is y'all saying their genetic make up is approximately? 1/2 black? 1/4 black? Or just dark skinned? I am not being funny just want to understand the big deal here.

Yeah black is really down playing the fact that the Sun
Blesses us with this color..

so I choose to use sunbless!!

and reality is reality!!

Truth is

Everybody is derived from the Black Man and when I say Man I mean the wombMAN as well..
every fuckin body!!

so even the resident cracks are distant cousins. no matter how much they try to distinquish themselves as some different unique entity..

they are just really really watered down black folks.. think MJ, albinos, lepors.. etc.

can we really talk???

I have NEVER ever met an American Black person who didn't know they came from Africa. Because every Black person has watched "Roots" or something of the sort. We were always told we were the products of slavery. Now, other countries and regions in the diaspora are to this day told that they are "Taino" and shit like that, when 99% of the Taino Indians were killed off, as soon as White folks got to the West Indies.

There is no clear percentage. Just an average. You gotta understand, that between slavery and colonization, there's been so much mixing in their blood, so you don't know. I'd guess that a guy like Sammy Sosa is "blacker", in terms of percentage than A-Rod, even though they're both Dominican. Sosa's has more prominently African phenotypical traits, but even that's not 100% clear.

They actually did studies about this a few years ago. I'm gonna try to find them on the net, where they actually went to each Latin country in the Caribbean and studied the genetic lineage of each country. If I'm not mistaken Cuba, was the "Blackest" in terms of having like 90% of it's citizens with African DNA.

The same reason White people call themselves White. It aint meant to be technical. What's wrong with Black? Black is just all of the colors in the spectrum mixed together.
