Fight Night Round 4 Coming in 2009

Fight Night fans don’t have to worry about the boxing franchise being replaced by Facebreaker anytime soon. This afternoon, EA Sports confirmed today via press release that Fight Night Round 4 is indeed in development and is on the way to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 sometime next year.

“The EA SPORTS Fight Night franchise has always been synonymous with quality and innovation that raised the bar for the sports videogame genre”, said Kevin Wilkinson, Executive Producer, EA SPORTS. “EA SPORTS Fight Night Round 3 was a platform defining game as the industry transitioned to next generation consoles. EA SPORTS Fight Night Round 4 will change how boxing games are played and measured in the future.”

Featuring a re-written gameplay engine, EA SPORTS Fight Night Round 4 will add a variety of fighting styles and boxer differentiation to authentically emulate the greatest fighters of all time. Pressure your opponent with the brawling inside style of young Mike Tyson, bobbing and weaving to set up powerful hooks and uppercuts. Capitalize on Muhammad Ali’s reach, hand speed and fleetness of foot to bewilder your opponent with lightning fast jabs and straights from the outside. For the first time in history, EA SPORTS Fight Night Round 4 gives you the opportunity to pit these legendary heavyweights against one another and name a true champ.

No fight will be the same with an all-new physics-based animation system that recreates the full spectrum of true-to-life punch impacts, giving boxers a devastating arsenal of punches, blocks and ring movement. The new physics system allows for missed punches, glancing punches, knockout blows and for the first time ever, rough and tumble inside fighting. Fatigue, adrenaline, footwork and timing all come into play as you hammer away at your opponents.

oh shit.. Time for me to knock some more niggas out on the 360  I can hear them now "Man my button not working", "You only so good cause you play all day". Niggas please

How bout the fuckin Wii GOD DAMMIT!

not sure about fight night but EA has made the statement that they are moving ahead with blessing the wii with many games.

the good news: more games for the wii other than games from nintendo.

the bad news: alot of them are from EA (even though madden 08 was actually fun and weird on the wii)

good shit..that's one of my favs...

i hope they fix that parry shit...sometimes the delay after a miss or a parry is a little unreal...

and i know it more of a sim now..but dammit..the knockouts in FIGHT NIGHT ROUND TWO use to crack me the fuck up everytime someone went down..they toned that down a lot in ROUND 3...

PS..JAGZ imma punch you right in the fuckin mouth for bringing me such good news:angry:....just my way of showin my appreciation...

Aint been keeping track of all the fight games lately, but is this this first game to have Tyson in it since NES? Always figured the companies bounced on Mike after the rape charges

Good news. Now if they would announce another Def Jam fighter it would really be all good. And I'm not talking about that bullshit Icons, I mean more like Fight for NY!

Electronic Arts has announced the next round in the popular boxing series Fight Night is in development at EA Canada in Vancouver with an expected bout date of sometime in 2009.

We were a little worried the Fight Series had been shelved after EA announced Facebreaker, a cartoon-styled boxing game slated for released under their new casual games label. With confirmation of Fight Night Round 4, those fears have finally been laid to rest.

To take Fight Night Round 4 to another level of realism, EA has rebuilt the physics-based animation system from scratch to better capture real-life blows, dodges and boxing action. The new system will allow inside and up-close fighting for the first time in the series.

For some fans, the big news will be the appearance of (once) Iron Mike Tyson in all his youthful glory. We doubt he'll be able to bite off Muhammad Ali's ear, but it'll be fun to take control of Mike for the first time in over 10 years.

Fight Night Round 4 will be released on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. Wii owners will have to get their fill of boxing from Facebreaker.
