Metroid Prime 4 Teaser Trailer | E3 2017 Nintendo Spotlight

hope they take their time and do it right...but man am I excited...last two great games I played on any nintendo system was super metroid and link to the past...now to be playing breath of the wild and hopefully a metroid game of the same caliber...wow...make it happen

This I agree with... there really isn't much of a point unless you are a hardware nut.

Sadly I am.... so I'm going to upgrade just to say I've got a more powerful console.

Yeah bruh I will end up getting the One X and PS4 pro but damn it seems like they just came out with these consoles not to long ago. :smh:

Why Xbox Boss Wants To Co-Exist With Sony | E3 2017 GameSpot Show

Good questions

Phil talks about Destiny's 30 frames and Sony's Destiny deal at 9:47

I really wish that Phil Spencer was made the head of Xbox from the beginning... I really feel like he is the Obama of Xbox. He is spending most of his time in charge trying to fix the mistakes of the previous administration. Don Mattrick and his "we don't need studios... the Xbox will be the center of your entertainment" bullshit.

Phil has done everything right since he has been put in charge, but he was put behind the 8-ball. He's only been boss for a little over 3 years and most games take about 3 years to develop. They are going to have to outsource more of their licenses to outside developers. Hell just the RARE catelog would keep them with exclusives for years. I would give my left nut for a wizards and warriors remake.

I think next year will be the year where you really see Phil's vision. It will probably be games that we won't see until 2019... but I think we will see videos of these games then.

I also think we will be seeing a PlayStation 5 in either 2018 or 2019.... I just can't see Sony siting there being told that Xbox one X is the most powerful system.

So I probably wouldn't buy a PS4 pro unless you don't have a system.

That's the perfect price. They'll sell a ton of them at $20. Once you start getting into the $40-60 range, that's dedicated gamers or fanboy territory.

Xbox’s Phil Spencer: PS4 Pro is an Xbox One S competitor, not a true 4K console

philspencer2.0.0.jpg

Microsoft unveiled its new Xbox One X console earlier this week, promising “true 4K” gaming on “the world’s most powerful games console.” While many are debating what those promises truly mean and whether we’ll see the majority of games in Native 4K or checkerboard rendering, Microsoft’s Xbox chief Phil Spencer believes the Xbox One X is “a true 4K console.” In an interview with Eurogamer, Spencer explains the Xbox One X name, a lack of first-party game announcements, and the all-important $100 price gap between the Xbox One X and the PS4 Pro.

“I look at [PS4] Pro as more of a competitor to [Xbox One] S than I do to Xbox One X,” claims Spencer. “This is a true 4K console. If you just look at the specs of what this box is, it's in a different league than any other console that's out there.” Spencer points out 40 percent more GPU speed, more RAM, and the speed of storage as the advantages of the Xbox One X over the PS4 Pro, but he also knocks Sony’s methods for getting to 4K resolutions with some of its games. “When I think about techniques to somehow manufacture a 4K screen like what some other consoles try to do, this is different than that.” Spencer also says he expects the majority of consoles that Microsoft sells next year will be Xbox One S.

On the topic of the actual console name, Spencer says “the name had to have Xbox One in it” because the Xbox One X is part of the family of consoles. Microsoft couldn’t call it Xbox One Elite because it already has a version of the original Xbox One with that branding, and the Xbox One S is the existing console so it couldn’t use “S” alone. “Getting the trademark for Scorpio is really hard,” explains Spencer, “When we do names, you have to pick global names for things.” Microsoft ultimately picked Xbox One X because it fit with the power message and the original Xbox branding.

Finally, Spencer addresses the lack of first-party game announcements during Microsoft’s E3 press conference. Microsoft had plenty of big games to show, but in terms of announcements it was only Forza Motorsport 7 as a truly new triple-A title. Spencer believes Ori, Super Lucky’s Tale, and Sea of Thieves serve as solid announcements, but he admits he has been heavily focused on hardware over the past few years since taking over the chief Xbox role. “I do think we have an opportunity to get better in first-party and to grow,” says Spencer. “We've got great support from the company to go do that.”

Spencer also notes Microsoft has signed some “things we haven’t announced” but that it’s too early to build hype about. Microsoft canceled Fable Legends and Scalebound earlier this year, and it seems like the company is learning from showing games that aren’t ready too early. Spencer notes Microsoft could have demonstrated Halo in 4K, but that takes time away from getting the game ready. “I'm going to be conscious of putting things on-stage when I know I can make a commitment to my fans and customers that they're going to get to play those games.”

Sony’s Jim Ryan isn’t worried about Xbox One X’s power, game devs more likely to aim for “lowest common denominator”

jim-ryan-1-600x400.jpg

In the hubbub of E3 2017, Phil Spencer has been singing the praises of Microsoft’s new console, saying that he’s “proud” of the console’s $500 price tag and that “the very best console version of games” this year will be on the platform.

He hasn’t made a secret about the fact that he doesn’t think Sony’s PS4 Pro is a competitor to the Xbox One X either. Why not? Because “If you just look at the specs of what this box is, it’s in a different league than any other console that’s out there.”

Spencer drew comparisons between PS4 Pro’s checkerboarding tech that upscales images to 4K and the Xbox One X’s true 4K, although it’s worth noting that many Xbox One X 4K games will also use checkerboarding.

PlayStation global sales and marketing head Jim Ryan had something to say about all of that to Eurogamer.

Eurogamer brought up the subject of Sony’s marketing deals with triple A titles – that Phil Spencer is not a fan of, apparently – and asked if Ryan foresees a significant difference in performance and image quality between the Xbox One X and PS4 Pro.

“I’m not going to go into the detail of what’s embedded into individual contracts with publishing partners. What I would do is cast our minds back to the PS3 generation, where we had on paper more impressive specifications than our competition, and in some areas by quite a considerable margin.

“Now, that didn’t play out the way we had anticipated it would – and this is nothing to do with co-marketing deals, this is just general developer and publisher dynamics.

“What happened was that developers, maybe at the behest of publishers, developed up to the lowest common denominator and stopped there. And in very few cases took advantage of the additional horsepower of the PS3.

“Now, I’m a big believer of learning lessons from history. History doesn’t always repeat itself. But if you’re a publisher of video games, that is a perfectly commercially rational approach for you to take,” he said. “Because you only do one set of work. You don’t do one set of work to get up to one level and then a different amount of work and consequently may need to go further.”

And in case you were wondering if Sony has been putting pressure on publishers to ensure that the Xbox One X versions of these games are held back to make sure that the quality is comparative, Ryan’s response is a resounding no.

“I think you’re trying to see some sort of nefarious platform-holder activity where likely none exists,” he replied.

Is Sony concerned about the Xbox One X’s specs when it comes to new releases?

“Well, we’ll see when they launch in six months’ time…There will be hundreds of games published this year and those games, market forces will prevail. If a developer or publisher wants to take advantage of the supposed power of the X, they will do that. If they don’t, they won’t.”

Ryan seems mostly unfazed about the Xbox One X. Do you think he’s right about developers stopping at “the lowest common denominator” or should he be more concerned? Chime in below.

The Coolest New Gaming Gear Of E3 2017

uhxk5oq6ga1xzjgs3elc.jpg

E3 isn’t just about new games. It’s also about new headsets, keyboards, mice, controllers, speakers and storage solutions. Let’s take a look at some of the coolest new hardware announced during the show.

LucidSound — LS15X Xbox One In-Ear Contour Gaming Headset
The LucidSound folks have a bunch of new headsets for E3, including a couple that work directly with the Xbox One’s wireless technology. But the coolest one is this weird-ass thing right here:

pbf8opdkcaoew5rxsrw2.jpg

It’s like a gaming horse harness. You know, for your gaming horse. The LS15X connects directly to the Xbox One and combines in-ear buds with built-in speakers and a mic located on the neck piece. You wear it like this:

Only you should have more color and texture to your face.

The idea is to remove head strain from traditional headphones, while providing quality above what you’d get from a pair of ear buds with an in-line mic. It also works on PC, and it is expected to ship this winter.

Nyko — Portal Switch Docking Kit
As with many other peripheral makers this year, Nyko’s E3 lineup is largely focused on Nintendo’s Switch, with various battery chargers, cases and stands coming soon to a store near you. But the coolest bit is this piece right here:

puh5e3d95e5amygpjpe1.png

That little plastic block beneath the Switch? That’s basically a Switch dock without all the extra nonsense. It comes bundled with a USB-C power and HDMI cables for $44.99, and will indeed put your system into TV mode.

The only downsides are it lacks the additional USB ports of Nintendo’s official Switch dock, and it’s not coming out until the fall.

Razer — Thresher Ultimate Headset

This E3 Razer is all about the new Thresher Ultimates, a pair of high-end wireless headsets built for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One (though both work on PC as well). The $250 headsets boast the highest frequency range of any console headset, with 50mm drivers tucked behind soft faux leather earcups with a comfortable suspension band design.

The Thresher also comes with an audio base station that doubles as a stand, because headset fans love their stands.

The Threshers are available now at RazerZone.com.

Seagate — Game Drive Hub For Xbox One

yapewclv8ussyyfcoh8w.jpg

Seagate announced a PlayStation 4 Game Drive this year that’s basically just a 2TB external hard drive. The Game Drive Hub for the Xbox One is something else. Well, it’s still an external drive, only it’s an 8TB external drive with a pair of high-speed USB ports on it, all for $199.

That’s a ridiculous amount of storage. Then again, we’re going to be getting some really big games with really big textures with the Xbox One X, so better safe than sorry. Learn more here.

8Bitdo — TwinCube Bluetooth Speakers
The fine folks at 8Bitdo have been doing some cool things with Switch game controllers, including one awesome Super Nintendo-styled joint and a SNES-styled fighting stick, but what really caught our eye this week was the TwinCube speaker set.

tzrmcguby5pejq8sigrb.jpg

Styled to connect wirelessly to the Switch and decked out in what Nintendo considers to be neon red and neon blue, the TwinCube speakers feature both Bluetooth and AUX inputs, so you can use them with just about everything.

vpldactdvj3rgqlswl0h.jpg

Hell, I want to use them as PC speakers. They’re small and cute.

Hyperkin — The Xbox Duke Controller
Yeah, I know we already shared Gizmodo’s piece on this beast, but damn.

jmjtvhyhe26xgc793eoc.png

Arriving this holiday season, just in time to play some backwards compatible original Xbox games, Hyperkin’s callback to the first Microsoft console’s rather large controllers is a beautiful thing. Some people called it oversized. Men with giant hands called it perfect, and perfect is coming back to the Xbox One and PC.

As an added bonus, from the top it looks like an evil robot frog.

Logitech G — Powerplay Wireless Mouse Charging System And Lightspeed Tech
Logitech’s gaming brand announced a pair of gaming mice at E3—the G703 and G903—but it’s not so much the mice themselves that are exciting, but rather what they can do.

Both of the new mice feature what Logitech is calling Lightspeed technology, which utilizes one-millisecond report rate and end-to-end signal optimization to ensure the mouse and PC are constantly connected via the strongest signal possible. During a briefing earlier this year, the company said that the tech would make wireless mice viable for super-sensitive esports play.

But what about keeping the wireless mice charged? That’s where the Powerplay system comes in. Instead of a wired mouse, you get a wired mouse mat that utilizes inductive charging to ensure the pointer is always poised to point at all the things.

I’ve long harbored a deep distrust of wireless peripherals, but this system here makes sense. Could be time to swap my trackball for a ha ha ha ha no.

Okay, maybe.

Turtle Beach — Stealth Series Wireless Headsets

qtpoakvblsb1ipypirny.png

The Turtle Beach folks think the coolest feature of its new wireless Stealth 600 and 700 series headsets is the ability for the Xbox One version to connect directly to the console using Microsoft’s wireless tech (the PS4 version uses a dongle). I think the coolest feature is the ability to score Turtle Beach quality sound at $99 (Stealth 600) and $149 (Stealth 700.)

That, and this kicking promo video.

This is just a small selection of the new gaming hardware and accessories being shown off at E3 2017 this week. What have you seen? Share with us in the comments below, and we’ll update this post if we see more cool stuff.

Man I understand this dude has a job to do, but he is really Sean Spicering this shit sandwich.

sometimes i hate Q&A sessions cuz people be asking some dumb ass questions you can easily find online. i know its sometimes hard to get a good question answered since they cant give out too much info depending on the topic but there needs to be a change in how they select the people to ask or something sheesh lol.

Nobody asked about the next MK!

Man I understand this dude has a job to do, but he is really Sean Spicering this shit sandwich.

The system or the conference...

After watching his video I do get his point on the 3rd party exclusive DLC stuff..

It's the first party shit that I have a problem with and the problem is that when he took over... Don had gotten rid of most of their first party studios. My hope is that next year we will see games based on his vision. Encore and Quantum Break were Don's babies. Don was hyping Quantum at the Xbox launch.

I really wish that Phil Spencer was made the head of Xbox from the beginning... I really feel like he is the Obama of Xbox. He is spending most of his time in charge trying to fix the mistakes of the previous administration. You know pretty much Everything Microsoft said at the Original launch has come true. We all know that it was the Game publishers who wanted to push digital only sales and who tried to eliminate used game sales and that Sony was subject to same game. The Publisher s changed their mind but. A lot of Game sales today are digital. Game Consoles are or can be the Center of a home entertainment center. A lot of us spend as much time watching TV on our consoles as we do playing games. I use mine to watch TV 80% of the time. In fact I am going to get rid of my cable box/DVR and use my XBOXOne instead. I have a Silicon Dust Homerun Prime and the XBOXOne app allows you to watch and record. That's $15 a month saved. Sony said they were going to focus on gaming but here we are today with Sony's PlayStation Vue IpTV. Meanwhile Ms got rid of their TV production Studio. Clearly a pure gaming only system is a thing of the past. One thing that Microsoft just did with XB1X is that they have changed the game forever. It's not hardware vs hardware anymore it's platform vs platform.

In 3 years the XB1X will be $249 and the S will be about $129. Sony can release another PS but it will have be fully backwards compatible.

Microsoft’s E3 press conference was the most talked about on social media

Microsoft’s E3 show accounted for 44% of all E3 2017 conference-related mentions on social media.

xbox-one-x-phil-spencer.jpg

Last year’s E3 was dominated by The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on social media that got around 75k mentions, followed by Battlefield 1 with around 45k.

This year, Microsoft was the belle of the ball, with 44% of all conference-related mentions between June 10 and June 13, the period the major conferences ran.

e3-2017-conference-mentions.png

The stats came from a 10% sample of 2.7 million English-language mentions, and while we don’t know how much of the conversation on social media was positive, there’s no such thing as bad publicity. Although I wouldn’t necessarily put that adage to the test.

Showcasing the new Assassin’s Creed Origins and Bioware’s new IP Anthem probably helped, along with the Xbox One X reveal.

Nintendo followed up with 15% of mentions, and Sony had 11%.

When it came to games, there was a lot more happening on social media compared to last year.

E3-games-social-media-mentions.png

Assassin’s Creed Origins, Metroid Prime 4, and Spider-Man were the three most mentioned games of E3, with 75k, 65k, and 60k social media mentions respectively.

The 10 most mentioned games of the the conference are below. Does this reflect what you’ve been seeing on social media? Let us know in the comments.

  1. Assassin’s Creed Origins
  2. Metroid Prime 4
  3. Spider-Man
  4. Anthem
  5. Mario + Rabbids
  6. Mario Odyssey
  7. Beyond Good and Evil 2
  8. Dragonball Fighter Z
  9. Skyrim (including Skyrim V)
  10. Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus

All that Madden and Nba live hype took a nose dive huh? People starting to wake up!!! Now I’m for the Frosbite engine I think it’s damn near the best( battlefront 2, Battlefield 1) but when I saw Madden 18 the players bodies still looked like Madden 15,16,17!
