Dwight Howard met with new Orlando Magic general manager Rob Hennigan on Friday and told him he wants to be traded to the Brooklyn Nets, according to sources with knowledge of the situation.

Howard and Hennigan sat down face to face in Los Angeles, meeting for the first time since Hennigan became Orlando's GM nearly two weeks ago.

Hennigan was noncommital when Howard told him he wants to be traded to Brooklyn, sources said.

Hennigan did not tell Howard whether he would trade him. His intentions were merely to hear the thoughts of the Magic superstar.

Howard picked up the option for the final year of his contract with Orlando on March 15. But since then, he has grown increasingly disgruntled with the organization, even telling people close to him that he feels the Magic blackmailed him into signing the "opt-in" clause.

Howard shared his feelings of being blackmailed by the Magic with the NBA Players Association last week, sources said. He -- either himself or through his representatives -- approached the union wondering if he might have a legal complaint against the club.

The goal of such a complaint would be to eliminate his "opt-in," thereby allowing Howard to become a free agent this summer.

Sources said the union has no plans to pursue any such legal action against the Magic.

Friday was not the first time Howard asked the Magic to trade him. In December, before the lockout-shortened season began, he asked Orlando to deal him to the Nets.

Howard never rescinded his trade offer, even after picking up his option on the day of the trade deadline.

After undergoing surgery on his back in April, Howard asked then-Magic GM Otis Smith to trade him to the Nets, according to sources. Smith said he would seek a trade, but the Magic fired Smith shortly after the season ended.

:lol::lol::lol:
The Nets Orlando and Hawks are talking a three team deal that would give the magic J.Smith and ATL picks, ATL cap relief and the Nets would take JJ and Dwight.

This would deal would mean the Nets would forfeit on resigning Brook Lopez. Talks are still early but we will hear more come midnight

So let me get this straight.

The Magic fire their coach, their gm, Jameer Nelson opt out and was told they rather have the space (which ain't much)

Just for Dwight to say he wants to be traded and then goes to the players union and say Orlando black mailed him????

The Orlando Magic may have influenced Dwight Howard to delay his free agency until July 1st, 2013, by threatening to trade him to the Los Angeles Lakers, reports Fred Kerber of the New York Post. Howard only signed the document waiving his Early Termination Option “after he was told ‘he would be a Laker by the end of the day,’” according to Kerber, citing a source.

Had Howard not agreed to delay his free agency another season, Orlando would have sent Howard to the Lakers for fellow All-Star center Andrew Bynum, veteran reserve point guard Steve Blake, and second-year forward Devin Ebanks.

Though the Lakers were among the three teams to which Howard requested a trade in training camp—the other two were the Dallas Mavericks and New Jersey Nets—the team in which he was most interested was New Jersey. “He was adamant New Jersey, New Jersey, New Jersey,” one source told Kerber. The incredibly image-conscious Howard did not want to be seen as copying Shaquille O’Neal, the first superstar Magic center to bolt Orlando for Los Angeles at the first opportunity, which is why the Magic used the possibility of a Lakers trade to get Howard to sign the ETO waiver.

Kerber reports Orlando does not want to endure another season of Howard drama and will seek to trade him before training camp if he will not sign a long-term extension with the team.

So Dwight is saying he was to scared to go to the Lakers so he opt in. So he didn't want to go the Lakers and be criticize for leaving LA to join BK

Dwight Howard wants to be traded to the Brooklyn Nets but he knows it’s unlikely. That’s why he’s exploring legal options to nullify opt-in.

This is silly. So CP3 couldn't get traded to the Knicks or the Lakers he still found another team of interest.

Dwight wants no part of the Lakers or Bulls. So he is going to try and go to court to get what he wants????

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

We are 30 some mins away before the madness becomes official.

Dwight had his chance. He fucked up. Enjoy Orlando

Howard the same bitch nigga that was talkin shit about Lebron when he made his decision right?

Dwight Howard wants to nullify opt-in and become an unrestricted free agent this summer. No chance it happens, according to league sources

Has anyone ever heard a player saying a team blackmailed him.

Dwight was on camera smiling with Orlando saying he loves the city and everything.

Now he hears the Nets are moving on and he is fighting to become a free agent.

Daman he is all yours

Let be real. If Dwight really felt it was no chance of him being traded why would he let this story get out??

because he is trying to piss Orlando off to the point where they say "fuck it. Get his ass out of here."

dude is still playing games

RT @BRAND0NJENNINGS @AlexKennedyNBA why would a team black mail you that wants you...

RT @BRAND0NJENNINGS @AlexKennedyNBA u can't be trying to sue your team.. That whole situation is ugly right now.. From looking outside of it

Brandon Jennings gets it. Who gives Dwight advice?? Sue your team?? the same team that bent over backwards. So what happens if they don't trade you??

Dwight: Orlando you know I love you guys. I'm loyal to the city of Orlando

NETS fans should chill out... He will be on your squad soon enough and you'll be better for it. There is a lot of PERSONAL shit about Dwight that he would never want out there (as a lot of people) and if someone is desperate enough, it's easy to blackmail them without being overt. You could tell he signed that extension due to pressure and not about him wanting to be there.

D12 is a good dude and yeah he may be immature, but his nature is good. Teams can't deal with the fact that they don't OWN players. They move players around like cattle when it suits them and when a player wants to be elsewhere, he's all of a sudden Satan... BS

Dwight is fucking annoying. I thought Brett Farve and his bullshit couldn't be topped, but Dwight has him beat:smh:

He will not be on the Nets. Dude is desperate now. He knows when Free Agency is over he will be either stuck in Orlando or have to go to LA and be in Shaq's shadow.

This is why he is pulling this move he is desperate.

He fucked up. Now he is going drag the Magic name in the dirt.

:lol: Daman bet you thought this shit was over huh

Brett is a 1st ballot HOF with a ring.

Dwight showed his panties in the Knick game after the fallout with Van Gundy.

If Dwight wants a chance at a title, he should go out West. The Nets are a guaranteed first round exit for at least the next 5 years..
