Dune: Part Two trailer. Are they biting Avatar?

The Original Dune movie came out just before I was a teenager. Didn't really watch it. Is Dune: Part Two's sand worm ritual scene biting Avatar's Mountain Banishee (flying dragon things) ritual? Or is it vice-versa?

In Avatar, at the risk of death, Sully had to master and fly a Mountain Banshee to be a Navi. In this Dune: Part Two trailer, at risk of death, the protagonist has to master riding a sand worm to be a Fremen. The scenes are too similar. Did that Dune: Part Two scene copy Avatar? Or did the Avatar copy that scene from Dune?

At any rate, the latest Dune--on HBO Max, was good. Its trailer looks dope.

Can't wait for part 2, part one was dope so I went to look back and seen how many series the book has had. It's been out for a while and there were multiple shows made on the books way back, they look heavily outdated and low budget so I didn't bother with em. But Dune 2? I'll be in the theater day one for that

O.k. still, did that Dune sand worm scene copy the Avatar learning to ride those bird-things? Or did the Avatar copy that from Dune? They're near- identical scenes.

Dune is a classic, predates the Avatar(s) and is in the Sci-Fi pantheon of movies. The Avatar series is just one of the best grossing.

The trailer looks consistent with the original so I don't think it in anyway reminds me of anything to do with Avatar.

Trailer looks good, I hope the movie is too.

He didn't. But only because I failed to elaborate. I knew that Dune preceeded Avatar. That was never in doubt. I was only talking about that specific scene--I e., that ritual.

This latest Dune is obviously a remake. How close is this remake staying to the original? Surely, as in every remade movie I've ever seen, this Dune remake is going to take some liberties. I didn't/couldn't know if the Dune ritual scene copied Avatar, or vice-versa.

Until I watch the original I can't know how close the remake is staying to the original, and which (if any) liberties the remake took. That's why I asked that question

i've read the original Dune series several times and the sandworm scene is a pivotal
point in the Dune story for Paul
the trailer looks accurate to the books
Avatar is the copy and that scene is not the only thing inspired by Dune in Avatar

My nigga Dune was written in 1965, of course James Cameron didn't come up with that. Besides that ceremonial rites are traditional throughout every culture and inhabited continent so in the end I'm not even suggesting any impropriety.

That guitar theme is still the shit. Me and my folks made a track with that sample in high school called " Hourglass" we recorded on one of those professional cassette recorders where you could set different audio channels and adjust their relative volumes on a single track . I wish I knew where it was that shit went hard as fuck.
 
It's a common rite of passage in many cultures for a young man to kill a wild animal or conquer an obstacle just like every other man did in the tribe.

I’m not too fond of the remake this is the type of movie that was good when it first came out in the 80s. It was good, but it was also weird as hell.

In the year 10191, a spice called melange is the most valuable substance known in the universe, and its only source is the desert planet Arrakis. A royal decree awards Arrakis to Duke Leto Atreides and ousts his bitter enemies, the Harkonnens.

In the year 10191 ??? I don’t even want to know how earth will look around that time if we don’t blow ourselves up.
