I current have cable internet through Charter and everything was all good until about 3 weeks ago! For some reason my router couldn't keep signal through my house so I called Charter and they sent a dumbass out to fix the problem. After he left the only difference was I had a new power plug on my cable modem and was told by him (through someone he asked on his phone) to get rid of the router I have! Okay so I did that, went out bought another one, moved to another house, reconnected service yesterday, and now have the same problem again! I can't go to any sites, ftp on network, have any other computers connected online, or connect Xbox for streaming (it says it can't recognize a computer on network) if the router is connected. I'm about ready for DSL!! Its been about 5 years since I had it but hopefully it has stepped up since then. What do you suggest? :confused:
 
Its not a cable or dsl problem have you done a virus and spyware scan sounds like its a problem with your pc or cable modem did they at lease change your cable modem

i cant believe they changed the cord. i been its the modem. my TWC modem seems to die like every yr, i get it replaced w/o problem
 
i have comcast and have had it for almost 8 yrs without any problems. grant it i was a comcast tech and know what i am doing. It sounds like you have a bad modeam.
 
it's not you or your router. i had the same problem with charter.

tell them to switch your service off and switch it back on. it's something in their DNS that's not allowing the router to work properly. they told me the same bullshit and came out and did the same thing. not until i left to cleveland and came back to carolina, one time i forgot to pay the cable bill and they turned it off. soon as i got back and paid it, as soon as they switched it on, my router started working.

Cross your fingers bro...or knock on wood because that comcast shit fucks up all the time.,....a friend of mine has it and everytime i go to their place they are sending signals or taking to someone from tech support:smh::smh:...i got att dsl my shit is aiight i mean that cable shit is faster..but fuck the signal creeps in and out on.....at least on the people that have it here in houston.
