that may be true, but he would be better than Green. If you were building a team, who would you take first? Pierce or Green. Green is an Oakley type of player. He is not great in one category, but he does a lot of things well. Whereas Pierce is a great scorer and can take over a game. Which he has proven. You put Pierce in his prime on this current lakers (one of the worse teams this year), and they'd be a playoff team. You put Green on the lakers, and they'd still be in the same position.
Pierce didn't need the money. He hung on because (according to the former pro ball players I know personally) the hardest part is giving up the comraderie. It is hard as hell to retire at 36......That's why you see these guys on television. Old folks lose their mind when they retire. Imagine doing that shit at 36....
Whoa whoa; I get your point about what type of player you are building around; but to compare Green to Oakley, thats pushing it; hes way more versatile and valuable than Oakley ever was; And I do agree Pierce would be drafted and probably built around first; its an interesting debate though...

No hes not that type of player; they are totally different types of players; Green and Oakley doesnt play the same way at all; Green is a lot more than a hustle player; Not too many "hustle" players consistently make the all star game...

Put Draymond on the Magic or the Nets and he would be unheard of.
Look at Javale McGee on the Warrior with Curry and Thompson and Durant. He is a real NBA center now.
