Dr. Laura apologizes for using N-word

bitd (back in the day) i knew of a sista (red-boned) named rebecca. lived one block up the street.

i think my big brother hit it back then; but so did a lot of other ninjas.

how you gone be Black with a name like Becky?

You never heard of a black girl named Rebecca? My great aunt's name was Rebecca, she was black, too. I just handled a credit card of this African woman the other day, her name was Anu Rebecca, something or other.

Becky is a play on words, so to speak. I'm from the north and when I moved to the deep south, they said I spoke like a white girl, which I do not, btw, I'm just not country.

So, much like your real name probably isn't BigDaddyBuk, my name is not really Becky.

Real rap...I've noticed that many of these white folks have been coming out of their shell ever since a black president was elected.

Fuck free speech, the radio station should be boycotted if dr laura is allowed on the air one more day...on the radio she is protected.

in person, i smack the shit out of this bitch. so be warned.

As someone already stated, even IF all black people or a majority of them referred to each other as a nigga, why do white people want to say it so badly? What satisfaction would it bring? In what way would this improve race relations?

Well, I'm actually going to somewhat answer that. I already displayed my feelings about other races using it. But when i was younger, what really made me stop saying it was this one incident.

I was about 12 and I was in a car with a few friends of mine. Half of us were black, a few arabs and the rest white. Now some hiphop song came on... some ignorant bullshit so you know the word nigga was going to be thrown around like confetti. So while we were 'rapping' along to the song, it was interesting to see the reactions of some of the non-black peeps in the car.

Some restrained themselves from saying the word nigga, and looked around uncomfortably, looking for a 'pass' to say it. The others would muffle their voices like a silencer when the "N word" was said  but one white boy in particular, his face gleamed with joy and he said nigga like it was Christmas. I wanted to check him... but honestly... I realized I couldn't. It was such an awkward situation, it made me realize how much damage that word did. That's why I really don't even listen to most hiphop today because it truly is ignorant in alot of ways. Even alot of 90s hiphop in terms of the liberal use of the word nigga. It creates an interesting conflict when it comes to those who listen to it.

So I'm in two minds about this to a degree. The word shouldn't be said in any circumstances, except when quoting... but still, it's a tough one.

Racist whites created the word as a derogatory term for black people so why would any self-respecting black person use it anyway?

context matters more than the word itself
9/10 when i black person says nigga theres little to no malice behind the word

9/10 of the time when a white person uses the word theres many different levels of negative emotions. besides like many have mentioned already there isnt any real reason for them to want to say the word except for white privilage.
If u dont like when whites or any other non-black person uses the word then do something about it right then an there and dont be like a cac and use the actions for others as an excuss for why u didnt do what u think is right

I remember going to an office party with some people from work. All white and in their late 40's. One of the guys (who drove us) played some Lil John song which he loved because of the guitar riff (could have been lying...who knows). So he plays it in the whip and the hook is "fuck a nigga up...lets goooooooo". I had the :hmm::smh: face. Others in the car had a  look. I couldn't get mad at the dude though. That really opened my eyes. Hip Hop has hurt our community big time. People forget that the limited interaction non-blacks have with blacks is through BET, the media and hip hop music. All of which project extremely negative images of blacks. We have to do better.

um, Big Daddy Buk IS my real name.

now, you must provide pics to prove you are female, after which we shall change your name to Re Re.

LMAO!! Ok, Mr. Buk, I stand corrected. No pics, I don't do that, but you can call me Re Re if you want, lol.

aw c'mon...pics of hands, feet, blurred face, i posted MY blurred face here.

its a rite of passage for females cause we've had a few dude pretend to be women.

you can do it, nobody will clown.

This woman has a doctorate in Psychology, and she does this?

I knew she was a fraud when several TV stations stopped airing her show because of her frequent homophobic rants...

You should be a little more enlightened than that if you're going to be a psychologist on a talk show that caters to ANYONE trying to get help...:smh:

Damn that was pretty fucked up.:hmm:

Ok, so a BLACK Women married a white man who doesn't protect her honor, then calls up some white lady named Dr. Laura for perhaps some empathy and guidance only to be slapped in the damn face with reality.

BLACK Women need to understand that no one and I mean no one, is going to love and protect them
like the BLACK Man.

And.... no one can empathize with you other than
BLACK people.

lol@that "genuine" apology

Non-Black people in this country know that a simple apology can "patch things up" with a lot of Blacks folks....thats why they can do it with ease.

I can make a 10 page thread all by myself of White folks that have done something physically or verbal disrespectful to Blacks, went to the media to issue an apology and the Blacks folks forgave them and the case was closed.

We as Black people need to learn how to make examples out of motherfuckas....because obviously we dont.

You wanna get back at a White person, fuck with their money. Most of them fold under financial stress. Especially if they were at the top, but then suddenly drop to the bottom. The result is usually suicide.

Im not hoping for White folks to start killing themsleves on a large scale...but im just saying :hmm:

:yes::yes::yes::yes::yes:

What's the bitch apologizing for if that's the way she feel?

Fuck outta here. I'm supposed to forgive you for some deep seeded shit that's been embeded in your pea-sized brain just because you give a half ass apology...

I think not bitch!

It's a lot better when they come out and you can identify the racist.

My grandma always said "People will always show you who they are"; and I'm always better for that too.
..

blk folks really need to stop using that word....I never understood why cats are proud to call themselves "niggas"....

when I hear little kids saying that word its just sad.....

next you can't expect other races and ppl to respect us when we can't respect each other....and it goes deeper than that word....

and FUCK THAT RACIST BITCH.....

black people need to love themselves....I really think we hate ourselves....well some of us....

why even marry a white dude that treats you like that...self hate :smh:....

Which was it...Rev. Jesse or Rev. AL?

You know both are known to shake up White corporations/People for cash all in the name of the FOREVER victimized Black folks.

..lol

It wasn't Rev. Inc. It was the guy who presided over his wedding.

Just from working with these saltine for the past 3 yrs i c that they feel they can talk to you any kind of way, and you should accept it. I also noticed whenever i say the smallest thing they get all sensitive. Fuck em n that jew bitch n mek em swallow that shit.

It's become TOO EASY to say fucked up shit and apologize for it afterwards...especially when you're NOT black! :hmm:

yall may not like hearing it, but did she lie? and then you get mad, fuck it. nobody owns words so if you keep using it, expect others to also--and not in the same way you use it :smh:

I remember some white people trying to tell me that the movie "This Christmas" was racist because there were not many white characters in it. I'm like "90% of the fuckin flick takes part in the home of a black family...wtf do you expect? Plus, a major part of the plot is that one of the dudes married a white girl too!"

Go to any IMDB message board where the film has a majority, if not an exclusively black cast, and I promise you will see a ton of threads from white users complaining no white people are in it or that they have a token role and are made to look stupid. Welcome to our world for the past century. :smh:

Chin chin. :smh:

Nah man... it's fine if you want to believe that's true, but I disagree. Common sense should tell people that one group of people using a word (between or about each other) that is considered derogatory when used outside that group.... that doesn't nean you can or start using it and expect it to be taken the same way.
Case in point... a good friend of mine happens to be jewish. He also happens to be pretty damn cheap, and he knows it. As a matter of fact, he will often call himself a "cheap jew"... and will say the same thing about members of his family. The thought that it would be ok or acceptable for me to start tossing that phrase around never entered my mind. He himself might be ok with it, but his older relatives who made it through WWII europe would almost certainly take offense. Common sense tells me that although it may not technically be fair...I just shouldn't use the phrase, and that's just the way it is.

Okay and that's why Al Sharpton is a necessary evil. We've gotten to a point where blacks bash Al all the time, but who else is going to call these white folks to the carpet for their shit?

I hope this shit blows the fuck up, I hope she gets FCC pressure and her show is pulled off the air. I want to see her in tears on Dr.Phil and pledging payment for the education of 50 black childrens college education.

They hate him to the core, but he's the only one putting them on blast when they use their microphone as a racist pulpit.
:yes:yep most people that bash Al Sharpton and others are NOT in the forefront generating media attention targeting racial issues.
Media Attention is necessary otherwise things will get swept under a rug and problem will still exist.

Also we need to continue to support each other (mentor, support a small business etc.) We focus and bashing each other so easily.

"While still a popular radio host, Schlessinger is no stranger to controversy; her 2000 CBS television show was short lived, in no small part due to her views on homosexuals.

Before that, there was the nude photo fiasco. Feminists aren't huge fans either.

And then there's the whole thing about her not actually being an actual doctor - though she holds doctorate in physiology from Columbia."

Fuck a CAC.

If a CAC whom I have no personal nor intimate relationship with wants to use the N***a word, they do so at their own risk.

I have no problem punching you in the face if you feel that bold. Word is bond.

That's what black folks need to be on...you say some stupid shit, a motherfucker should punch you in the fucking mouth. That's the perfect motivation for CAC's to stay the fuck away from the word. It's not for them to use.

You see how jews protect themselves with ferocity if someone dares to say or even reference something perceived as anti-semitic? We need be on it like that.

We got CAC's on some "forget about slavery, it happened a long time ago" shit. Fuck all that. You hear anyone saying "forget about the holocaust"? Of course you don't.

You have to make CAC's respect you.

I don't see a problem. If you want white people to not call you nigga then how about not calling yourself a nigga and also stop calling other black people niggas. till then, shut the fuck up, nigga!!!

you cannot group everyone together dude. She called a counselor therapist because the word and intent on people using the word offended her(the caller) . This is about the caller and the husband and husband friends. If all blacks stop using the N word that does not mean the "intent" and outright racist remarks from her husbands friends will go away. They will say or use other tactics and remarks to hurt her.

Common sense would tell me that if a word was created by others to use against me as a derogatory term, I am not going to try and twist it to make it a term of endearment. I will use another word. And it's dumb when peoplem try to say using it takes the power away from the others when they get mad when a nonblack uses it--whether in a good way or a bad way. This woman may be a racist, but she is right. The N word is used so commonly in mainstream media and by black people at all levels of society. Then add in the hispanic and asian kids that use it among their black & nonblack friends and how are you going to try to tell people who can and can not say it? makes no sense
To ignore you go coon.
Please do ignore me. Somebody who can not express his thoughts and resorts to name calling is too immature to have a discussion with  I would argue that the coon is the one who CHOOSES to call himself a derogatory name used by his enslavers to demean him and make him think that he is less than human. But that's just me :dunno:

;) think outside of the box and stop being ignorant & sheepish...now that I think about it, some of you should continue using the word because it describes you perfectly (the original meaning--not the bullshit meaning you are pretending the word has)
