Downtown Charleston Restaurant Is Being Accused Of Reselling Costco Frozen Pizzas For A 700% Mark Up.

If you go to a local spot and pay $15 for a specialty burger with the “Island” sauce, and those fuckers brought you a Big Mac y’all would be cool?

giphy.gif
That’s the thing about those folks who get paid $150K annually to do nothing. They drive their generic BMW to their generic cul de sac. Their wife and kids are borderline robotic too.

They don’t bat at eye at a $20 burger without fries. I’m surprised the workers didn’t snitch on the wine selection.

The rich in this country are worthless.

Facts. These dudes are bugging.
You can buy knock off Jordan's too. Are you gonna bug out when you find out they ain't what you were led to believe they were?

This isn't a matter of legality as it is a matter of being misleading. Don't tell me this pizza is 'homemade' simply for the markup. If he'd simply called it Coquin's Signature pizzas, that's something else.

I've bought replica Breitling watches before. If a muhfucka was trying to charge a premium price for it, I'd have an issue with that.
Don't lead me to believe that this is the real deal. :hmm:

Panera doesn’t make their mac and cheese onsite which is understandable.

Buying this

And selling it as their own is different.

What Panera’s doing is reheating this

At its stores using the ones made for stores.

Agreed...

And I’d have an issue if they sold it as their signature pizza. Don’t heat up a frozen pizza, then throw some leaves on it and present it like you made it. GTFOH with that!

And I agree with your points.

I said 'signature' because they are AT LEAST adding THEIR toppings, so it should be considered Pizza ala Coquin. :giggle:

I don’t see where they are calling it homemade, fam. All I see on Instagram is “gourmet.”

Trll me if I’m missing something.

Bottom line, don’t sell a frozen pizza if you have a restaurant. It doesn’t matter what they call it.

If you don’t have an issue with it cool, but the majority of people will. And if there’s no issue with it, then why have several different websites reported it?

We know it’s not illegal, we know that they can do what they want. But to many it’s misleading and not what they intended on purchasing.

If you’re cool with it, then order up!

They makin 400 a night in pizza, which is prolly covering labor, utilities, and rent. Plus it allows them to sell takeout alcohol, which is a bit higher markup, but also something they can’t do under normal circumstances. AND it gives an opportunity for tips for the staff.

If orders slow down because of the bad publicity from bitter employees, they can cut employees hours down to next to nothing, not pay unemployment, and everybody is fucked.

Plus the people paying $20 for a frozen pizza have to go to the grocery store and risk infection for others.

Grimalda then left to deliver pizzas in boxes marked, "Fresh Pizza, Oven Baked."
That was in the article. It wasn’t fresh

What about

  1. Bakeries that use Dunkin Hines Cake mix?
  2. Bakeries that use Brownie Mix?
  3. Movie theaters stilling you bottled water for 5 bucks?

Lol...man, Totinos used be a decent pizza until they changed the recipe, it's utter trash now......

Your taste buds are trash

We used to eat them all the time in college and they were trash. We would have to try to add stuff to them to make them decent, but we were broke college kids so....

Even if he'd simply called it Coquin's, it'a fraud to take Costco's pizza and call it Coquin's. What if Costco's pizza got recalled tomorrow? People could get sick and die because they dishonestly used a separate and distinct good and passed it off as their own.

All the people talking about "homemade" needing to be in the title are missing the point. We know the shit isn't made in anybody's home. But we expect the restaurant is giving us their product, whether they're heating it or making it from scratch. This isn't oatmeal, it's the entree. If I go to Lenny's and order a burger and they bring me a re-heated Big Mac, somebody's getting slapped.

None of the bakeries I been to using Duncan Hines cake mix. I can't speak for the brownies. Movie theater, they known for taxing for the convenience.

It doesn't matter how much the four-foot, amphetamine-laced waitress with the bright orange hair smoking the three Marlboros reminds you of your dear old mother, the soup is not homemade. Unless the chef and his family are sleeping in the kitchen. And if that's the case, I'm not hungry. Homemade is a myth. You want to know some things that are homemade? Crystal meth. Crack cocaine. A pipe bomb full of nails. Now we're talkin' homemade. If you need further information, check the notes of Timothy McVeigh. Old Tim knew how to cook up little homemade goodies. Sometimes the advertising people realize that homemade sounds too full of crap, so they switch to home-style. They'll say something has home-style flavour. Well, whose home are we talking about? Jeffrey Dahmer's? Believe me, folks, there's nothing home-style about the boiled human head. Even if you sprinkle parsley on the hair and serve it with oven-roasted potatoes.

Home made ain't meant made at the crib since forever. It's about tasting like your mother/grandmother's recipes. As though it was made with care for the one's you love.

What is your point?
Are you saying because you do not see it that it doesn't happen?
Are you saying to don't know you can't speak on it?
Are you saying because you know they do it and it is convenient it is ok?

I am confused. Are you agreeing with me or disagreeing with me?

The bakery in your picture is doing just that! Smh. They buying that shit and selling it like it is their own!!

Even if the bakeries did use cake and brownies mix that’s still not an equivalent.

An equivalent is buying one of these

Publix_BakeryCase.jpg

and selling it as your own.

Mf I got taste buds. I'm one of the pickiest people you've ever met, and I can tell differences. That's how these restaurants are getting caught. Thinking folks won't know the difference. Same thing bars think. You can trick some people but not everybody.

Yes there are bakeries that do that.

There’s a large supermarket by my house whose setup looks just like that, and behind them you can see them making the desserts in that display.

And before you ask, no I didn’t see them make every single dessert and pastry and no I didn’t see them place every single strawberry or chocolate chip on every single item.

So yes, it’s a possibility that something could’ve been purchased from somewhere else. But being that one can literally see them making the desserts throughout the day, most figure that they’re making them in-house.

You think when you buy that $10 slice of cake at a restaurant they baked that shit?
Depends on which restaurant you dine at.. Del Friscos Double Eagle Steak House Bake all of their desserts.
The key word is ”Fresh” pizza
