Former ESPN radio host Doug Gottlieb joined the show to talk about why he left and what he’s doing next at CBS.

Gottlieb said that one of the reasons he left is he wanted to cover the NCAA Tournament, which he’ll get a chance to do now.

Gottlieb talked about how competitive ESPN is for talent. Everyone wants the big assignments.

Gottlieb talked about some of the editorial decisions at ESPN. ”I was told specifically, you can’t talk enough Tebow,” Gottlieb said. “People can’t get enough of that story, and they kind of stoke the fire.” Gottlieb thinks that Tebow will be out of football in a couple of years. He said Tebow won’t have a chance against the Texans.

He also says nobody likes Skip Bayless but the higher ups in the company and all personalities were warned not to criticize Skip on air after the Jalen Rose incident.

I was wondering what happened to him...

I use to listen to his show on XM/ESPN radio...those guys who have replaced him suck.Now on the way home I listen to local...

im not suprised by the skip stuff. Jalen made him AND stephen a look like bitches, im sure skip cried about it later.
 
Just like BSPN, Doug is full of shit. He perpetuated a lot of the bullshit when he was there. If he felt THAT strongly about it, why didn't he leave sooner? He'd had other offers in the past.

that kind of lends more merit to it then imo
if he had offers and other choices then he probably was there trying to take as much as he could until the fuckery got too much for him and he left
its not coming from a place of they fired me now im fucked in the game
 
was never a big fan of his anyway, but i'm happy alternatives like CBS & NBC sports popping up

No you are correct... The Skip hate on here is so strong and incredibly bias, with so many inaccurate facts being spewed around it's not even funny anymore... that it seems like people will inject there feelings as if they are true.

I agree. I heard him talk about ESPN. He also loved the network, but he'll have more opportunity at CBS.

Then the show tries to be slick with the rate this or that from 1 to 10, or who is to blame. If NBC gets their programming to be real sports at 10am...this show would be toast, and they can put a new rapper on the show daily and it wouldnt help.

There are "offers", and there are better offers. He was probably waiting for the 'right' time, i.e., most beneficial for him and his family. That position is not unusual for a responsible person. Therefore, makin the right decision at the right time was most inportant, as it should be.

He's a good guy, and a very efficient sports announcer. He should do well. ESPN's lost.
