Dope Nigerian Rapper - Chiddy Bang

Side point:
If you object to being called African, should you not also object to being called Nigerian? Why not just claim your ethnic group???

I do not necessarily object to being called "African."

I just do not like the fact that it gets overused by people like Nzinga.

wow all of a sudden its cool to be nigerian on bgol.. i remember the hate u racist fucks have for nigerians.. keep ur eProps...

Don't get it twisted FUCKYOU: We are still hated with a passion. :D

I personally do not like "titles" placed on people. We are all human.

I mean shit, I was born an American, but grew up in Nigeria, and I am a proud citizen of both countries. I do not differentiate one from another, as I love both countries.

It does. Sad thing is that the embassies are in ATL and DC.

Both your parents are Nigerian, so that qualifies you for a passport. All it takes is for one parent to be Nigerian, and you are good.

I'll say contact the embassy to see what's up, and what steps you have to take to get the passport.

Dual citizenship is the shit. Man, if shit gets hot here, I have the option to easily dip out :D

My daughter has a Nigerian passport, and she was born here.

I know you have the links, but here:

Because this stupid video amounts to licking Americans on the ass. If Nigerians had the good sense to promote their own music, and it was clearly better than American music, Americans would hate you. Have you never heard the statement that imitation is the greatest form of flattery...

Firstly, you are the one who tries SO HARD to be "African." I know, and love who I am.

Secondly, I am not African. I am Nigerian, and proud of it. You on the other hand hide behind the "African" title. What country are you actually from?

I never ever hate or fight you on your music. Never have. Prove me wrong and show a post where I have fought you on your music postings? Music is universal to me. I argue with you on other issues you bring up from your delusional mind, trying to be the "spokes person" on everything African. Again, you are delusional.

Finally, dumb fuck, hip hop is a universal culture all around the world. Hip Hop is loved all over the world by the youth. It is the music they have grown up on, and there is nothing wrong with them rapping.

Bullshit.. you hide your identity and only pretend to be Nigerian every once in a while. Like the rest of the Africans here, you are ashamed to be African. I respect Boro, Kaya and that is it. The rest of you are complete disappointments. You spend your time putting other people on a pedestal and doing absolutely nothing to uplift Africa..

:hmm:

Arguing or carrying on with you is a stupid mute point.

And by the way, I am still waiting on you to prove or point out where I have hated on African music? Lying fucker :smh:

There's a lot of nigerians in rap. Chamillionaire, Young B from the Pack, Wale, ol' boy Chiddy Bang.....there's some more I can't think of right now.

And this is how Nigeria is gonna make headway in music.. ? You cannot have originality when you are copying someone else, and no one can respect you if you have no originality.

No Nigeria is not standing up; America is standing up. Every time you sing their music, you glorify that Americans....
yo. wtf is wrong with you man? are you just always in a perpetual state of anger? can't you just enjoy the fucking song? if you don't like rap music fine. it's music. it's fucking art. since when did art have boundaries? you seem like the person who wakes up in the morning, puts in his dentures and the first thing you say is ... "fuck!!"

Naija stand up!!!! Loved this shit. Not even just off the music but the documentary view of the video. I thought it was going to be on some Bangs shit but this was hot. I wish Wale would learn something from this shit.

The mixtape samples a whole range of songs from artists including MGMT, Ratatat, Yelle and Passion Pit.

Career

In late February 2009, the popular music blog Pretty Much Amazing showcased five songs by Chiddy Bang that were on their Myspace account. Because of this, the group gained some following in the underground among music blogs and local colleges, playing a notably packed show at Swarthmore College in April 2009. Pretty Much Amazing continued to occasionally release new Chiddy Bang songs, and in November 2009 debuted the group's first free mixtape, entitled "The Swelly Express." It presented the story of the group's experiences trying to break into the music industry. The mixtape quickly gained popularity online[3] and in January 2010 the group signed a record deal with EMI.[1]

Their first commercial single, "Opposite of Adults", which samples the Brooklyn group MGMT's 'Kids' was released on February 21, 2010 in the UK. (It had previously been released online under the name "Kids" in April 2009).[4] It reached number 8 on the UK Singles Chart. "Opposite of Adults" was released on April 20, 2010 in the US.

On April 8, 2010 Chiddy Bang released a free mini-mixtape called Air Swell, which was used as a platform to further their name in the United States. The mixtape contains remixes and samples from some of their favorite UK artists such as Gorillaz, Ellie Goulding, Kate Nash, Hot Chip and Tinie Tempah. A studio album is slated for early September 2010.[5]

In June 2010, the group performed live at the Glastonbury Festival to celebrate its 40th anniversary. The duo also performed at the Wireless Festival in London's Hyde Park on July 4 of the same year alongside Wale, J.Cole, Tinie Tempah and headliner Jay-Z on the Sunday.
