Don't Pump Gass On May 15th 2007

it won't change anything cause if by somekind of miracle people actually do it, half of them will just have to fill up dopuble on the next day.

what we really need to do on an international level is actually put more effort into electric cars to make them more efficient and less costly. the reason this won't happen is the president of the USA has too much at stakes financially to do this.

Lmao......its fukd up that we are all brainwashed into following suit.
its pretty apparent that we (the people) will never make change in our present and will continue to watch as our children and their children get fukd harder and harder....because we lack sacrifice. (notice im typing "we")

ppl who can't go without fueling up their car for sum city boppin to those who say they have stock and dont mind if it jump to 10 bux a gal..even at the thought that their children/childrens children will have to pay our dues one day.

We all play our part to keep our asses exactly where they are now, casual change wont come...it has to be drastic, shock and aww type shit.and the only thing we as citizens have that could acomplish this type of shock and aww resides in our number's.

Our poison is "content",content with our current lifestyles.Maybe you have a decent job and your able to provide for you intermediate family. this kind of content seperates us from those who arent doing as good, we lose touch with that kind of struggle.

DON'T PUMP GAS ON MAY 15TH!

This was passed on to me from another one of Our Beloved Brothas in the Diaspora for those who have an ear to hear. Check it out...

Dont pump gas on May 15!!

April 1997, there was a "gas out" conducted nationwide in protest of gas
prices. Gasoline prices dropped 30 cents a gallon overnight.

On May 15th 2007, all facebook members are to not go to a gas station in
protest of high gas prices. Gas is now over $3.00 a gallon in most places.

The average car takes about 20 to 30 dollars to fill up.

If everyone did not go to the pump on the 15th, it would possibly take
$2,200,000,000.00 (that's BILLION) out of the oil companys pockets for just
one day, so please do not go to the gas station on May 15th and lets try to
put a dent in the Middle Eastern oil industry for at least one day.

If you agree (which I cant see why you wouldnt) repost this event with
'Don't pump gas on May 15th. WHAT'S UP PEOPLE YOU DOWN OR WHAT?

1. The facts don't back up the assertion that a 30 cent drop ever happened in the spring of 1997 as a result of anything done via the internet or any advocacy sponsored event and,,

2. What most would do, those that are convinced this would have any effect at all is fill up or buy gas on the 14th.

Now if we can get the government to force Exxon and Mobil for example to become two separate companies again the prices would fall due to competition.

Much like the big telephone companies were forced split and divest which made way for the innovation we see today with cell phones and companies like Vonage, the prices would drop.
Even if I was to believe that in '97 prices dropped 30 cents because of this, why are prices pushing hard at 3.70 a gal in California and a standard 3.00 bucks nationwide today?

Because this is not a lot different than the Detroit NAACP's mock funeral for the n word. Talk shit during the meeting about your big elaborate plans and make it home in time to say grace at dinner.

Damn I wanna weigh in on this so bad...but I don't drive anymore. With parking tickets at $120, jack booted cops on The Belt, Jersey Tpke, I87, Garden State handing out MVs for going just 10 over the limit I either hoof it or take mass trans. I'll wind up getting into some radical revolutionary BS like "burn your friendly neighbohood gas station" and tune all you cats out. So I'll just say more power to all yall

I'm down, and I think this should happen the 15th of every month until gas goes down and stays down.

i dont think tyou understand how this works... The govt is in the pockets of these billion dollar companies......

These "don't buy gas" protests are absolutely uselss. They do not make a point at all and nobody will notice the protest. You are still using gasoline when driving and just postponing your purchase of more gasoline.

If you want to make a statement, advise people to use public transportation on May 15th. Also write letters demanding better and perhaps cheaper public transportation to local, state, and federal governments. Call them as well on that day.

Revenue from public transportation stays with the state and eventually makes it back to the state in the form of services.

Americans are apathetic nowadays and have resigned to paying whatever the government wants them to pay. Long gone are the days of successful protests that cripple businesses and force them to make changes. In the 1960's Blacks would unite to shut down the establishment.

Nowadays, gas can be raised to $5.00/gallon tomorrow and everyone in their Hummer II's would be at the pump filling up screamin' "SHIT!" at each *ding* ...but still pumpin'.

If that's the case, then on the 15th, I'll avoid the pump. I'll do my part and even if it fails, at least I can say I participated in an attempt to overthrow the man.

Doesn't matter what you do...boycott..You're fucked....still gotta buy gas...and if you try public trans...they'll just raise rates.....

Just need to go move to an area where you can walk every damn where.....

What really needs to happen is:
1. For those in cities with mass transit, use it instead...PERMANENTLY
2. Petition local and state politicians to put more funding into alternative fuels or else we will see to it they do not come back in office...EVER
3. Trade in our Hummers and other gas guzzlers for already-available energy efficient cars.
4. Telecommute if our employers allow it, and if they don't, encourage them to do so.
5. Protest in our streets like these illegal immigrants to demand change.
