I wholeheartedly disagree with the underlined part. The infrastructure that was built for free by us was not built for us black people to enjoy. Do you understand the concept of "old" vs. "new" money? The "old" money is what if fueling this "new" money. Sure the economy since then transitioned from agrarian(old money)-> industrial(old money)->tech/automation(new money). But it is the old money that set up where this country is now. The tech/automation era(new money) did not really take off until the 1990s.
Go over America’s early millionaires and find me some who got rich off slavery. Even some who came from a family that had slave money. Wealth usually leaves families within a few generations anyway, so a family that had money in the 1700s , generally doesn’t have it in the 1800s.
Rockefeller’s, Vanderbilt’s, Astor’s, at least they still got their wealth - and none of that is from slavery.
Wait, I’ll give credit to some tobacco companies. That involves planting and those families are still around. But even that production got BETTER after slavery with better machines for harvesting it.
And the south fucked itself banking on cotton.
The true wealth came from industrialization. And that’s why Africa flopped as well because they STILL DEPENDED ON SLAVERY AND AGRICULTURE, when the rest of the world was industrializing. While Africans were cool with using slaves domestically to harvest raw materials, Europe and America took it, processed it, and sold it- which is where the real money was. If slavery was really profitable , especially with this white supremacy y’all love so much, it would still be here. Western Europeans had far superior weapons than anyone else (built from industrialization). You think they ended it out of the kindness of their hearts? Fuck no, it ended cuz it was useless.
Especially when part of it involves making people work who want to kill you.
