Donald “Tariffs” Trump say Washington needs full control over Greenland, Canada & Panama, China/Greenland stregthen ties with, uk agree on tariffs

Did I say this administration is doing a good job of it? The blueprint of tariffs, education, along with legislation like the CHIPS act is in MY opinion how it should done and no there's no quick solution as this goofy bastard Trump is saying. Biden said he was going get rid of the Trump tariffs and he didn't touch em. Trump said he would get rid of the CHIPS act and he didn't touch it so the combination of leaving those two in effect is seeing those computer chips factories being built and hope it continues(That took 8 years). Bringing those kinds of jobs back is still the way forward otherwise prepare to learn Mandarin.

‘Essentially all shipments’ from China have ceased at Port of L.A.

Port of Los Angeles, Executive Director Gene Seroka said many large importers have “hit the pause button on cargo from China” because they don't want to pay the tariffs. He said retailers have about a six-to eight-week supply of goods on hand, “but that will quickly dry up” and customers will begin to see those changes on store shelves.

U.S. agriculture isn't nearing a trade war tariff crisis, it's in a 'full-blown crisis already,' farmers say

The global backlash to the Trump tariffs is punishing U.S. agriculture, especially with a decline in Chinese buying of U.S. farm products, farmers said. A leading agriculture exports group said "massive" financial losses are already racking up at farms, with cancelled orders resulting in layoffs, as China stops buying products from pork to lumber. "No one can replace all the volume that China buys," one farm operator reported.

The last boats without crippling tariffs from China are arriving. The countdown to shortages and higher prices has begun

Cargo on ships from China loaded after April 9 will carry with them the 145% tariff President Donald Trump slapped on goods from that nation last month. Next week, those goods will arrive, but there will be fewer ships at sea and they will be carrying less cargo. For many importers, it is too expensive to do business with China.

Americans Face Empty Shelves Within Weeks

Port authorities have warned of a "precipitous" decline in shipping volumes into the U.S., noting that several major retailers were "stopping all shipments from China based on the tariffs." One economist, speaking to Newsweek, likened it to the first effect of COVID-19.

Japan threatens to dump U.S. Treasury holdings if trade negotiations don't go well - Reuters reports

Japan the biggest overseas holder of the US debt held roughly $1.13 trillion in Treasury Securities.

Next is China with $784 billion, according to the US Treasury.”

The years ahead will be those of dramatic change. Think it’s unlikely US tariffs will reduce Chinese dominance in the EV field. If anything EU reducing tariffs on Chinese EVs (or eliminating them altogether)will hyper-charge them & may destroy Tesla market share in EU further.

Chinese EV makers know that they need to look to foreign markets. Even though the EU has major demographic problems too they are still a market looking to fully transition from ICE vehicles to EVs by the 2030s-2040s. Chinese EV firms will also look to the rest of Asia.

BUT Chinese EV markers need to capture most of EU, other Asian, & part of developing world market by 2030s & 2040s just to make up for falling domestic demand due to horrible domestic demographic situation which will eventually reduce the number of customers by tens of millions.

Trump imposes 100% tariffs on foreign films because US film industry is 'dying very fast'

In his opinion, “Hollywood and many other areas are being emptied” because “other countries are offering all sorts of incentives to lure our filmmakers and studios.” The American president considers all this “a threat to national security.

Trump directed the Commerce Department and the US Trade Representative to "immediately begin the process of imposing a 100 percent tariff on all foreign-produced films entering the country."

Trump now wants everyone to stop asking when the trade deals are coming

Trump and his team were touting all the countries eager to make deals with the U.S. on trade. They changed their tune when it became clear such deals wouldn't materialize quickly.

Ford will raise the sticker price on cars imported from Mexico. It just said it didn’t expect significant US price hikes

The price increase was disclosed in a memo sent to Ford dealerships, first reported by Reuters but confirmed by Ford. Ford said the manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP), also known as the “sticker price,” would increase between $600 to $2,000 per vehicle, depending on the features. Ford said the price hike doesn’t apply to vehicles currently on the lot, but will apply to those built after May 2, which start arriving at dealerships in several weeks.
