There is no universe where I am Eddie Murphy and she is not getting fucked...

So what was up with Rudy Ray's "friend" in the movie. Was that his partner or something? Cuz if not, dude was outta place in the movie. Like all these fine ass butt naked women running around and this dude is always with rudy ray.

Did anyone bring this up, but, ya think Monique would of been cast as Lady Reed if she didn't sever her ties with Netflix?
I swear this crossed my mind. For some reason I feel like sommore should had a part also even if small while others are hating about certain peeps being in the film I actually like how Eddie spread the love almost similar to when he did Harlem Nights :)

I am surprised people are surprised Eddie killed this.
Bruh, I saw him on Kimmel the night before the movie dropped. He didn't seem "there". Seemed like he was like when is this interview gonna be over. I was gonna wait til like 2-3am when movies drop on Netflix west coast midnight time. But after seeing his interview, I really was like, hmm, I'll wait.

So I was saying, OK Eddie is older, tired of the entertainment biz or something.

But this movie, he's like a whole different person in character. He killed this movie.

I truly was anticipating, Rudy to fail at the end when he pulled up to the theater. Thought there would be no one really at the opening. Then when he pulled up, I was happy for him.

Movie was a roller coaster of emotions because as black people, we expect the hard times or failure. But he persevered, and Eddie killed this shit.

 How was he "out of place" if it wasn't his partner? If that's the case several other characters were out of place too. Epps, Robinson, and Burgess (the gay dude) all had very small roles.

seeing all the interviews in this thread?

I think Eddie just TIRED...

he is out of rhythm with all this stuff

and remember he did a ton of print interviews

and the whole APOLOGY thing

and I'm sure he is thinking about Charlie thru ALL this too.

I would understand his already feeling burnt out and he aint even do his stand up yet.

His friend was his manager was his gay lover.. brah

....He has a point why wasn't Rudy not in Harlems Night? but than again so weren't a lot of "alive" comedians from back in the days.

I saw the movie and it was great,it was just long enough to get who and where Rudy was coming from and who he was as a person.Bless him and respect to his hustle.....

In my estimation, it’s imp. that you separate the person RRM from the character Dolemite.

For the majority of the movie, Eddie was showcasing the biopic of RRM.

Dolemite is almost an alter ego that is showcased in movies and when in front of an audience.

To me, Eddie wasn’t remaking the movie Dolemite, he was portraying the life of RRM.

Carry on......

Thank you.

Funny thing about cats back then, didn't own a lot of the material they made. Signing blank contracts, not having proper representation and not reading the fine print they gave up millions. So if her father left her 100% of nothing then she doesn't have a leg to stand on. Now neither her father or her made good life choices if after the success Rudy Ray Moore had and she is on welfare, now if I am Eddie or Chris I am not cutting a check, but I would help to get a job and get off welfare for her or her offspring, but I am not cutting a check.
Man you dead on point ....i know of a cat now, his grand father invented the formula of the ingredients they put into margarine that makes it turn yellow and gets paid perpetuity meaning it never ends yeah that upfront money might be alright but that's really leaving a legacy

The movie was dedicated to Charlie Murphy.
Eddie said Charlie 1st told him about 'Dolemite', often repeating lined from the movies.
Charlie might have been good in the part of Rudy Ray Moore as well.
Remember him as the Playa Hatimg/Time Traveling pimp on Chappelle's Show?
(they never let him loose with that character)
