Following their third consecutive second-round exit from the NBA playoffs, the Philadelphia 76ers have decided to part ways with head coach Doc Rivers, per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. Rivers coached the Sixers for three seasons, reaching the Eastern Conference semifinals each time. However, the Sixers failed to make it to a conference finals during his tenure and were eliminated by the Boston Celtics in a Game 7 blowout on Sunday.
With the dismissal of Rivers it sets up a huge offseason for a Sixers team that has failed to get over that hump of winning a championship. With James Harden potentially entering unrestricted free agency this summer, Philadelphia will have some significant choices to make as the team tries to make it further in the postseason next year.
