Doc Rivers declined a trade for Carmelo bc he didn't want to trade his kid

Big Ups to Doc River for giving his son money he don't deserve. Far too many black folk are getting fucked over in sports. Yea trading him was the right thing but if you have a chance to enrich your child off some cac and you don't, you a damn fool. Nepotism and Cronyism is at the center of capitalism thus I am not angry when a black man use these ism's to his benefit. Doc seen what Golden State did to Mark Jackson which all on this board agree was fucked up then why not pay your son enough to set him up for life. Good job Doc.

Man his contract is guaranteed.....tgey could've traded him to anywhere in the league and he would've still got his money. Do you guys understand this?

It makes no sense. So you rather have on team that resents him because his dad is the coach? On the Knicks he would've started, given a chance to grow even more.
Nah man, the Knicks had no direction. They were laden with malcontent, frustration, and inner bickering between players and management, and were stuck following a broken system and a hapless leader in Phil Jackson. The Knicks haven't made the playoffs since 2013. Our coaching staff is not better than the Clippers'. Our front office isn't better. Our players aren't better either; especially without Melo. There is no upside to trading Austin to NY. Why trade your kid to a worse situation?

Because you job is to make your TEAM better. You made your sons life better by giving him a contact no one was going to give. Now go let go to the Knicks and get hollow stats that will allow him to get another payday

Melo would've made the Clippers better? I don't know about that. He's been on team for a while and we've been ass for the majority of the time he's been here.

Yes, absolutely Melo makes them better. Imagine him playing when they lost to the Rockets a cpl years ago. Melo can score and when Clippers went cold Vs the tickets he's going to get a bucket which was all they needed.

You've been ass because they depleted the team of talent. Hired a GM who was incompetent and hated your best player.

Melo with talent gets you 54 wins

Melo with talent get you to WCF

If that is true, then he needs to be fired ASAP

Balmer is letting that team burn. No way a respectable GM just watched OKC lose Durant for NOTHING, would sit and let Chris Paul AND Blake Griffin become free agents without getting something in return in trades.

AND he over paid Deandre

AND he over paid is own son

AND he helped negotiate the deal to allow Sterlings wife to still get court sized tickets (and kissed all on the cheek and shit, after she became a billionaire for being racist

that nig could've been hitting the club scene, fucking mad bitches, it would've been a paid vacation

i'm gonna side with doc here. anytime a team try to trade for melo its just too much money and too many players lost. all for a scorer past his prime who doesn't play defense.....shit ain't worth it. plus doc and his son didnt really have a relationship until he got to LA. i'm sure doc don't wanna mess that up. can't blame him there

his son is good enough to be in the league, but refusing that trade for melo is kinda ridiculous. I am not suprised though, Doc traded for his son, gave him that contract...Austin should just be thanking daddy everyday he saved dude's career. without his dad, I could see austin playing one vet min deals.

There are better players not in the league..

Would good enough be enough if his daddy wasn't doc ?

Who said they didn't have a relationship?

I remember doc sitting right behind me at the aau national championships in florida....

Having your son on the team you coach is nice and all BUT how does that play with teammates? There's gonna be a lost of respect for the coach if your son can't ball.

This shit wouldn't happen in places like philly or nyc. The fans and media would be giving 'em hell. Especially in Philly. These fools be waiting in the weeds to be angry about something.

Didn't Austin Rivers say that he didn't fuck with Doc like that. I would have traded him just for saying that shit publicly.

A 37 year old Crawford amd 40 year old Pierce for Melo? That's sounds disrespectful. That was an awful trade for NY. It makes sense that Doc wouldnt want his kid to go there and get stuck in our awful system.
shit that sound like typical knick shit.

It's still his kid

and you know his wife is an influence

Plus Doc might have some guilt for playing basketball and not being there when he was young

a lot of rumor mill here. i think austin on the clippers while dad is coach is a conflict of interest that should not happen. i like coach's son tho, he play hard and contribute. is he worth 11 million? idk, there are plenty bums getting paid more in the nba.

the title of the thread seem like trolling cause i read in a news article that the knicks turned down that trade. it was a bad trade for the knicks. i wouldn't want Melo no way. he not a team player and plays no D. he could be an asset for a championship contender that needed a scorer tho. Clippers ain't contenders.

feel like cp3 & big baby's beef with Doc was legit. i think doc need to go & son need to stay. hopefully the logo get the clipper shit straight. clippers should get mark jackson as coach before someone else gets him.

But you made your son richer than he would've ever been without your help. You send to a team who maybe worse but it allows him to grow and get better which would allow for more money. Now he'll just be Docs son who nobody In the league is going to like.

Fuck that league, nigga fuck around and put you in a nursing home on some "daddy you tried to trade me" shit . That NBA shit is temporary, he would be my son forever. All the cacs that pass shit down to they kids and it goes to shit.

Keep cashing those checks Austin and Doc

He shouldn't be thinking as a Dad, he should be thinking as a fucking GM. He's gone above and beyond the call of duty with that contract. That shit makes up for not getting a pony when he was 6 or missing any of his high school games.

That fuck better keep his pops laced with some outstanding fathers day gifts for the rest of his life. He owes him.

This look some some rumor gossip shit...and if it is true....I wouldn't give a shit if I was Doc........Doc sits there and watches Blake Griffin sit out 50 games a year, watches Jamal Crawford put up 20 points one game and 0 points the next, watches Chris Paul dribble 40 minutes a night and watches Deandre Jordan miss 10 free throws a game........yet these niggas resent Doc because he plays his son 25 minutes a night or treats him like his son? Boo hoo.

Deandre got market value as did Austin Rivers........the problem here is Griffin and Paul weren't good enough to get it down. That's just what it comes down to. Clippers problem is they don't have Steph and KD or they don't have Lebron.

Its gonna be a lot of people getting fired for this same reason. Coaches will be getting fired because they don't have a Lebron. GM's will be fired because they can't draft a Lebron or a KD.

Sometimes you just gotta chalk it up as you just not good enough. You don't have the best player in the world.
