Well saidI think the production itself is classic. Having to finance your own movie with your own money, maxing out credit cards to create your dream/vision is classic. The movie was definitely full of social commentary and will continue to be a must see in my family because those same stereotypes still exist.

I knew Robert Townsend well. He took his last dime to make that movie. What you may or may not know is that a lot of Keenan Ivory Wayans stuff was co-written by or got its inception from Robert Townsend. Townsend had to take Wayans to court trying to be paid and get credit- rights on it but a judge ruled against him. If Living Color fans take note many on that show were held stagnant as Wayans was about family and on some Barry Gordy shyt. Even 4 people today has blossomed so much that they are worth more than Keenan ( Jamie Foxx, Jennifer Lopez, Jim Carray and Rosie Perez )
I don't even think it hit cult classic status.
But it and 5 heartbeats are Townsends best gifts to the world.
