do any of you have republican friends?

Very few of my friends are Republicans. I understand their views, I just don't agree about how they go about fixing certain issues...

The Republican Party with a capital R certainly doesn't express much of the message of Jesus. I don't think the Democratic Party with a capital D does either. Neither one the parties are "Jesus-like" in my opinion.

Dems aren't generally campaigning on Jesus's message though. This is an important distinction. I think what sticks in most people's craw is the incessant appeal to the authority of Christ all while promoting policy and talking points that are completely at odds with his message. It's the hypocrisy that drives me nuts.

We differ on what we think is the solution to many of society's problems but I'm glad we could avoid going to into some "my side vs. your side" nonsense here.

...I have a very far right view of welfare, to be honest.

However, I attribute that entirely to growing up people who were getting it, and shouldn't have needed it.

You know how many people I knew growing up who bragged about not having to work?

Shit makes me sick to my stomach.

Or those bitches rolling through the grocery store with five kids and a cart filled with hot pockets, frozen pizzas, juice, and other unhealthy bullshit. I'm talking about cart about to spill over.

I tell people all the time: I don't feel sorry for poor people; I feel sorry for people who can't help being poor. Giving up on yourself is not the same as, being incapable of taking care of yourself and needing assistance. I know a family where everyone is getting checks. A mother with a three sons getting disability, and all these dudes do is sit in their yards all day, blasting the radio, and smoking weed. All of those dudes are grown.

real talk, I feel the same way.....I think many of us do honestly. America is probably the only country in the world where the poor are fatter than the rich. Poor folks here don't starve....they just eat like shit.

my thoughts exactly. Niggas be gloating.

I used to fuck this hardcore republican broad in Houston...a pure freak. We would argue politics all the time, then fuck like maniacs.

Yes she listened to rap music.
Yes she was conservative & bitchy.
Yes she voted for bush, 2x.
Yes she hates Obama.

And yes...she is black.

all that stuff would turn me off

Mostly Whites when I lived in Oregon.
But we tend to avoid the political shit for the most part.
I knew where they stood.

Though they hardly ever agreed with me, we were cool because they saw me in terms of "content of character", as cliched and corny as that shit sounds.

And for many of those Cats, I was the first Black person they ever knew or even met. So oddly, they always had my back. Especially during some really sticky situations.

The most fun was calling my Liberal friends out on their racism.:D:D:D

My Former Wife (Trinidadian) was pretty Right-Wing in her views at times. All that Church-shit and what not. And another friend of hers (Sista from Jersey also on some Church-trip) who I rolled with for a bit after we split. They were talking about how Obama would bring a rash of Abortions, Black people would be back in chains, once he became President and shit.

Now both are fencing after seeing what President Obama (and Michelle. Gotta keep it in Da SistaHood) has gone through for the last almost four years.

Have three white male friends... so there you go.

Convinced one to vote for Obama in 08'. He's hesitant now.

Isn't this the "meat" of it all? Not to say that blacks can't be republicans but usually they aren't. When I encounter white colleagues that aren't republican I'm usually surprised and they tend to look at me like why? In turn I'm like why not?

I have a couple of coworkers who have voiced that don't like Obama. We all try to agree that politics and religion should be kept at home. But my issue is that I know them personally and can see why they would be Republican because of their beliefs on certain issues. But when asked about Obama, their reasons are skewed. The biggest response is "He hasn't done anything".

My theory is that republicans strongly feel that there is a [political correctness] specific demographic of people [/political correctness] that should be running this country and all others should just follow for the best of "our" interest. And believe it or not, there are an obsene amount of people who rather be led than to think freely.

I hope in 2016 a Hispanic woman runs and win the presidential race. We may witness a simultaneous mass conniption from the GOP.

Even if you are Republican you have to be stupid to vote for Romney, he does nothing but change his stance on subjects which leads to believe he can't be trusted.

The only black republicans I know are the ones who grew up around white folks or who try to encompass themselves in white culture.

Funny of people in the south have the highest employment numbers and pay less taxes then the northern state but Vote Republican Every time.

Man i tell you if the South Won the Civil War we would still be in Chains!! :smh:

South has right to work laws. It like the opposite of the human rights right to work. Its like u better work for lower wages and benefits or starve law. Strange thing is I loved the south when I lived there, had better opportunities there.

man, we don't even get on the subject of politics, cuz i'm so shallow that, if i knew my boy(s) was republican, i might have to distance myself. i suspect 1 or 2 are, so it's just one of the those things that's better left unsaid, so we can be cool.

No republican friends. Its a deal breaker. Can't tolerate nonsense. tried to be open minded with a white co-worker who was pretty cool, we both IT guys who rode bikes. But this motherfucker was delussional when it came to politics. navy man, w. Bush supporter. we would debate and he couldn't handle the truth. From day one of bush presidency told his ass what was going down, by the end of bush's last term he had nothing to say to me on politics. He was cool in every way except politics, he would turn into a generic cracker even though he was a working man and it was so obvious the repug were hurting him and the nation. He voted for mccain, and was highly critical of Obama. I stop fucking with him. he didn't like white women and probably had very few white friend, he hung with brothers and chicanos. It was all unconcious white supremist leanings. Laziest white men u ever want to meet at work, but believed that right wing pull urself up by ur own bootstrap philosophy. Wasn't even that good of a tech, just kept getting over b/c he was white, never recognizing how mediocre & privileged he was. Had the never to tell me that people choose to be homeless. When u make friends u try forget about race and try to just deal with the person, but he kept turning into a cracker so I had to cut him loose.

I'm in the military I find that a lot of my co-workers tend to lean towards Republican. It usually boils down to three main topics. Guns (Democrats want to take the mall away), the military (Democrats want to cut our paychecks) and Welfare (Democrats want to take half of paycheck and give it to some lazy ass bum).

ETA. I'm friends with everyone no matter what their political and religious beliefs are. However if you start a political discussion and can only spout talking points or what you saw on Fox, MSNBC etc. I'm ignoring your ass
