I actually got intrigued by the subject matter when i was a child, back in the late 70s. Before the internet, the subject was waaay more laughable than now because of the VERY limited knowledge of the subject matter. You HAD to read about the subject in books, and from there, the MYTH of a SINGLE bigfoot roaming america became 99 percent of people's knowledge of the MYTH. When the internet came out, and thus people's ability to communicate what they know, that has changed. Thousands upon thousands of first hand reports of sightings, sounds, etc. have been shared. We have learned that this is a GROUP of beings, that there are male, female and juvenile beings. There are thousands of investigators. The NUMBER ONE SHOW on animal planet is finding bigfoot.
