Disney Star Cast As Aaliyah In Lifetime Biopic

If you think the courts view of a black male is more than 3/5 a human in 2014 you are sadly mistaken, because they still view blacks the same way....

The white supremacist mindset never left, it just became more covert...let's be clear

You obviously didn't read what I was responding to. Homie brought up the one drop rule as justification. I told him the same institution that created that rule also created the 3/5 human law. How you came up with your statement is beyond me.

Wow! Some mixed Disney chick who looks nothing like Aaliyah gets the role and now we are having a discussion about what does or doesn't make a person officially black. Is this also a discussion about interracial marriages and what color their children will be?

While we are at it I'm sure BGOL has the final and definitive answer as to whether Mariah Carey President Obama Halle Berry and Tiger Woods are black. If that's the case what is it that makes them black if they all have interracial parents?
THis here in bold ^^^^

If you saw Obama walking down the street in Harlem as a non famous person. Would you sit and say. Gee look at this half breed walking around Harlem. He looks Black and is Black. There are Blacks with two Black parents who can come out lighter than Obama. Are they not Black. I bet you sample every Black Americans blood and we all will have cac in our veins along with all sorts of shit. Race aint real but brown people with kinky hair are Black. Period. A half Black person will face the same racism and bullshit as a two parent black person.

That is because in the USA you have historically classed all people with even a hint of Negro genes as being black. Hence light skin dark skin they were all classified as Niggas.

Now my family are directly from Africa but I live in the UK and no if I saw non famous Obama walking down the street I wouldn't immediately think of him as black. I would think he is mixed race and that is exactly what he is.

Race is a social construct and depending on where you were brought it can infer different things. For example in Brazil that had pretty much the opposite view of the one drop rule. There you were not seen as black if you had any Caucasian blood.

So it really depends on where you are coming from. In the UK we have tons of interracial relationships and we generally consider them Mixed race as to claim them as black is to disregard a whole side and heritage that they have.

Zendaya is mixed or mullato.
Her mom is white and her dad is black.
So the bottom line is that she's Black

zendaya-and-her-parents.jpg

she is mixed, she is not black.

she black

How does that work. :hmm:

Black people always trying to claim these half breeds. The girl is as much white as she is black. Fuck the one-drop rule

BTW, the casting seems fine.

Mean while, gotta half breed in his avatar.

Last week Lifetime stirred a bit of criticism for their decision to cast recording artist and Disney Channel star, Zendaya, as lead in the forthcoming Aaliyah biopic. And although our audience had several suggestions of actresses who may be a better fit for the role portraying the late singer, one name that wasn't included was Teyana Taylor's.

Over the weekend a few clips surfaced on Dancer-Choreographer, TyronBee's Instagram showing the 23-year-old Harlem native, in what appears to be her auditioninh for the coveted role.

According to TyronBee, the clips are allegedly from Taylor’s “audition”;

“I know Teyana is gonna be mad at me for posting her audition clips but I honestly feel no one deserves this role more then her. She embraces Aaliyah dancing, acting and singing. (Which I'll be posting all 3 parts) but unfortunately @teyanataylor heard that Aaliyah's family isn't involved & she no longer wanted to be apart of the film. Here's part 1 The dancing.”

Teyana Taylor's Alleged Aaliyah Audition Tapes Leak
WTF is Teyana famous for besides being a cum dump to guys with more talent who then toss you cameo scraps? Virtually everyone she has EVER worked with has hit it (except Tyler Perry. Maybe. ) And is it really a "leak" when this is not the 1st, 2nd or 3rd time something has "leaked" about you in a shameless attempt to help kickstart your nonexistent "career"?

Came out of a white cooch

Me and this girl have nothing in common

Alicia keys ass niggas

Fuck it! Why NOT go ahead and have Kim play Aaliyah? Not that much less ridiculous than these other random hoes jumping on the publicity bandwagon. The "outrage" would only last 15 minutes because "we" have been conditioned not to take any principled stands for any longer than 15 minutes. Cybersign an online petition, vigorously retweet for a day or two and that's about it.

 Since when does the actor have to look like the person they are playing...?

Not always necessary but most of the time especially if the person is still alive highly recognizable or recently deceased it always helps with casting realism and believability if the actor can resemble the appearance of the person they are portraying.

The list is long as far as examples. The recent TLC movie comes to mind and even Denzel doing Malcolm and on and on. True fans or followers of the subject are usually pretty sensitive in these areas especially family members.

Diana Ross in Lady Sings The Blues comes to mind on the other end of the spectrum as far as actors looking and sounding radically different than the person they are portraying. As much as I love that film and Ms Ross's work on the film she was nowhere near sounding or looking anywhere close to the real Lady Day. Hardcore fans were livid at the time about her being cast for that role.

These matters often get real touchy and sensitive all because of casting. It boils down to a respect issue many times clashing with artistic license and expression.

Its called AUTHENTICITY. This is a biopic, not a Marvel comics movie. They are doing a movie on an actual person, so it does matter that the actor have a basic resemblance to the person they are portraying or it is not going to be convincing. Nobody wants to look at a movie where they are constantly trying to force themselves to associate the actor with the person they are playing because the actor doesn't remind them at all of the actual person.

Aaliyah had a long face; this chick looks like a happy face emoji.
They had to have better options auditioning.

Wait...you're not using Denzel as an example of someone who looks like the person they were playing are you...? :smh:

Not sure what marvel has to do with anything:confused:

So you didn't like Malcolm X, What's Love Got to Do With It, or The Temptations miniseries? Cuz Denzel Washington, Angela Bassett and the guys who played the Temps didn't look like the people they were playing...:dunno:

Tupac, Biggie, Aaliyah is one of those people you got to get a actor that looks like them. Puffy, Jam Master J, queen latifah....not so much

If Nicki or Beyonce or Rihanna had a biopic, you will need to get someone that looks like her.

By in large Hollywood does not care about Authenticity when it comes to biopics. Mexicans were pissed because they had a Puerto Rican playing Selena and they had a full blooded Euro play to play Mariane Pearl in the biopic 'A Mighty Heart'. There are many other examples.
