Here’s Your First Look at the Star Wars: Visions Anime Anthology Series
By Rebecca Alter@ralter

New Star Wars thing alert! For the very wide swath of people who are into both anime and Star Wars, LucasFilm has released a “special look” at its upcoming anthology series, Star Wars: Visions. The extended trailer, which features production stills and behind-the-scenes interviews with animators, premiered yesterday at Anime Expo Lite and showed off the wide variety of stories and styles that will make up the new anthology. Star Wars: Visions consists of nine new stories set in the Star Wars universe, rendered by seven different Japanese animation studios. The trailer gives a sneak peek into a “rock opera–style film” called Tatooine Rhapsody, an Astro Boy–inspired robo-romp called T0-B1, and some sort of space-furry adventure called Lop & Ocho, among others. It’s exciting to see Disney cede so much creative control to these different studios. Star Wars: Visions will stream on Disney+ September 22.

Star Wars: Visions Trailer
Debuts September 22, 2021 on Disney+.

Watching the start, it’s looking like they might be connecting the Star Wars Universe with Earth.

And if this series is gonna play the traditional Star Wars music, it will kick this series up a notch.

They had played some traditional music in the last 2 episodes of “Rebels” which gave it a lot of credibility and Star Wars feel to it.

Looking forward to this.

Major failure, why do this in Japanese instead of English? The first show with Ronin was good, anime looked good, gets kiddy after that.

I just finished episode 6.

There are 9 episodes that run on average of about 15minutes.

Not gonna spoil for those who have not seen it.

If you are a fan of the original, classic animated movie “Heavy Metal”. You will enjoy this series.

It does follow Star Wars Canon, it’s based on different characters from different points in time from the movies.

Just like with Netflix's Love,Death and Robots this animated series based in the Star Wars universe has some great short but involving episodes and some just ok episodes that reminded me of the super kiddie cartoons I would watch with my son when he was 5 to 10 years old.
I truly admire all the effort, time and artistry of the episodes I've watched so far.

I finished watching this morning.

Pretty interesting series. It’s different from all the previous SW media we have seen. It gives insight in some episodes on the Force and Darkside.

Animation, I liked episode 1, 7 and 8.

Story, episode 1, 5, 7 and 9.

I know all the episodes were done by a variety of different Japanese Anime Studios. It was interesting that they all had a Japanese vibe with all of them and all the planets were Asian theme. Also majority of the planets introduced were located in the Unknown Region of the Star Wars Galaxy.

There have been rumors since “The Empire Strikes Back” that there is a possibility that Earth is located deep within a uncharted area of the Unknown Region.

In “Rogue One”, the Asian character played by Donny Yen, his character could easily have fit into this series and it’s highly possible he originated from one of these planets we saw in this series along with his friend.

Volume 2

Watched these this morning.

Like last season, there are 9 episodes that run about 20 minutes each.

Each episode is done by a different animation studio using different formats.

There are number of episodes this season dealing with the Sith and giving a different perspective on them. Also a number of episodes dealing with Force Sensitive characters with no connection to the Jedi.

Some of the episodes take place during the era between Episodes 3 and 6. The other episodes it’s unclear on exactly when they take place. Episode 5 shows the Jedi Council and there is no one on it that we are familiar with from Episodes 1 - 3.

If you are a fan of art/animation, like the first season you will enjoy it. Nothing spectacular or new with the story’s.

I like the animation style of Episode 1 “Sith” with the look of an animated modern art painting. It caught my eye being I used to do graffiti/writing back in the 80s.

Episode 8 has a post-credit scene.

For the InCells, the season is dominated with Females as the lead characters. They all do things that you find offensive and disturbing.

…Star Wars: Visions season 3 is ready to put an army of Sith in the spotlight. The Visions season 1 short "The Ninth Jedi" unveils a group of Sith acolytes in a new, war-torn era, where the Jedi are no longer the driving force behind peace in the galaxy.

This Sith force continues to expand as secret Jedi candidates arise from the shadows, especially as "The Ninth Jedi" develops its own spin-off stories - including Visions season 3's "The Ninth Jedi: Child of Hope" and 2026's longer-form special Star Wars Visions Presents — The Ninth Jedi...
