Elektra Natchios, usually referred to only by her first name Elektra, is a fictional character in publications from Marvel Comics. Created by Frank Miller, the character first appeared in Daredevil #168 (January 1981).

Elektra is a ninja assassin of Greek descent. She wields two bladed sai as her trademark weapon. She is a love interest of the superhero Daredevil, but her violent nature and mercenary lifestyle divide the two. She is one of Frank Miller's best-loved creations, and subsequent writers' use of her is controversial as Marvel had originally promised to not resurrect the character without Miller's permission.[1] She has also appeared as a supporting character of the X-Men's Wolverine.

She is named after Electra, daughter of Agamemnon of Mycenae and Clytemnestra of Sparta.[citation needed] In the 2003 movie Daredevil, she was portrayed by Golden Globe-winning actress Jennifer Garner. Garner returned for the role as the main character in the poorly received 2005 spinoff, Elektra.

Okay guys & gals, here's the rub. As many of you may or not know, Elektra was one of Frank Millers greatest creations when he was writing Daredevil: Man Without Fear back in the 80's.

Portrayed as an enigmatic and amoral assassin for hire, she was an exceptionally gifted killer well versed in the esoteric arts of Ninjutsu and more than a match for daredevil who was also her long lost love from her days as an innocent exchange student at Matt Murdocks place of study.

We all know what happened when Bullseye slaughtered her in what was probably one of the most brutal sequences committed to paper and some of us no doubt, probably felt as peeved as Frank Miller was when Marvel ressurected Elektra from the dead against Frank Millers wishes.

Now, she's back following the culmination of the Skrull Invasion and trying to find her place in a Marvel Universe that's fallen under the Dark shadow of Norman Osborne's New World Order.

A shadow of her former self, she still remains a cut above most skilled assassins and sundry bad ass's but she's once again faced by a nightmare from her past....Bullseye.

How do you all feel about thsi incarnation of Elektra and do you think the writers crafting her world have what it takes to really take her character further than Frank Miller could?

Thoughts and commentary on this character would be most appreciated.

Props to NnubianN & Exodus for the original drops.

Once I read it I'll post back. I havent been the biggest Elektra fan. Im more into the Cosmic side of Dc and Marvel.. with a sprinkling of Mutants.. Hence the chick in my sig and avatar. ^^

Thanks for at least stopping by.:D

Much appreciated.

I'm a cosmic side fan myself and will be commenting on that side of the Marvel Universe at some point too.

This is cool!

Damn...been decades since I peeped the Frank Miller Daredevil books. Still have that haunting image of Elektra shoving her katana into DD on the fantastic cover in that 'poke-but-don't-pierce' style of a more innocent time.

I like this version of Elektra. She's a little more vulnerable, slightly less vindictive, just as creative and maybe a tad more thoughtful. 'Sonly been 4 issues of a mini series though so she's still got some growing yet. I'd kill to find out how she's gonna handle Bullseye (haven't read DRE#4 yet) and what Marvel has in store for Elektra when her run in Dark Reign is done
