Is P. Diddy planning to buy a Formula One team?

Apparently so. The rapper made the announcement to guests at a dinner to launch his new perfume, Unforgiven. “It seemed to be more than bravado on his part,” reports one guest, adding that Diddy had previously spent much of the evening huddled in a corner with Lewis Hamilton, the youthful British racing star. Still, Diddy is known for being an impulsive chap. Pink-and-gold pimpmobiles may indeed roar around Silverstone. Alternatively, he may end up with a bling Scalextric.

The dinner was at Fifty on St James’s Street. According to the restaurant’s PR, it cost £150,000, with £100,000 spent on champagne alone.

I hope ole PD knows how much it costs to field a Formula One Team for a complete season. We're not talking about dropping an album which only cost a few million - we're talking about $90-120 Million a year bruh!

If he can swing it, all the best to him.

Of course, but still this is a large venture outside his lane.

Puffy's whole empire was valuated by Wall St at ~$200-$300M (personal wealth included) last year.

You're talking about one venture that takes at a minimum half his net worth.

Remember, there are no more Formula One licenses. 8 teams - no more, no less.

You have to buy a team from someone else. That's at least $40-50M
You want two competitive drivers and a test driver - that's another $15-20M.

So the tab is already at $70M and YOU HAVEN'T EVEN PUT A CAR ON THE TRACK YET.

diddy dont have the resources to fuck wit F1... he should start with some smaller form of motorsport and build some legitimacy if he is serious...

Exactly. He's just rich. People that fuck with F1 are OUT OF CONTROL rich. They don't even know what they're worth.

Diddy said that boastful statement in front of a lot of very RICH businessmen, and by way of that just proved how ignorant he was.

He should start light - Busch Series, maybe even NASCAR.
