The 11-year-old "Whip My Hair" singer caused a ruckus amongst her fans over the weekend after posting an Instagram photo of herself sporting what appeared to be a new tongue piercing.
In the photo, Smith, who's still in braces, poses with a friend as she flashes a shiny silver stud on her tongue. Her friend wears a similar ball on her chin.

But while the controversial photo may have riled up fans, it looks like the young star's power-couple parents Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith have nothing to worry about. The precocious tween says the stud isn't permanent.
"It's fake...Sorry," she wrote on the photo sharing site after shocked followers criticized the new piece of jewelry.
But if there’s one thing Smith won't apologize for, it’s her edgy sense of style.

Having rocked everything from pink hair to Freddy Krueger T-shirts on the red carpet, the bold pre-teen isn't afraid to make a fashion statement.
And it seems mom and dad approve of her quirky means of self-expression.
"She can’t cut my hair but that’s her hair," Will Smith said about his daughter in a May interview with Parade magazine. "She has got to have command of her body."
