Did Lux LOSE to MOOK because he was too RESPECTFUL???

Lux explained that he had victory in mind leading up to the battle, but admitted that his approach was a bit too respectful for a battle of this magnitude. Since he and Mook have so much personal history, Lux intended to "keep it on the stove" and simply battle Mook to see who was the better lyricist without dishing out the skeletons in their closets. This obviously wasn't the case for Mook as he spoke on a number of more personal topics in their battle

yea Lux got a lil to bougie, Mook kept it street and

overpowered him....

its a damn shame because Lux went after everybody, but as

usual it went over the audiences head...

and ebro was the worst judge ever, judging lux based on his personal feelings an not his set...

star really shouldve been in his place...

Mook has a better grip on linguistics and enunciation. Plus his bars were more "visual." Add personality, legend and confidence. And there's your winner. But overall, Mook has one of the most universal dialects, coming from NY.

fair assessment from what i was told about the battle they said Mook was going in hard body he pulled out all the stops

still waiting to see the battles

Go read the bars to Lux vs Mook on Rap Genius. His rhymes were too complex. Even reading the bars, I'm not always sure of what he's saying.

Shit, listen to this nigga talk?

I know people like that, tho'.

They talk as if they're talking to themselves. He knows what he means, so he can be as indirect or complex as he wants to be...

...but he assumes other people knows.

Shit, I've seen him do the 16 bar breakdowns from back in the day, and you can tell he assumes people just know.

He didn't rap like that against Mook the first time, nor on BET Freestyle Friday...

...but somewhere before the Midwest Miles battle, his styled changed up.

I like breaking down bars...

...but - and he stated this in the video - Mook made him realize what it's all about. People want it in the moment, and in the interview I posted, he said he realized that 'you gotta put the medicine in the dessert'. Speaking in terms of his message. You can't be so in-your-face with it.

I think him being less disrespectful ism't what did it...

...because those obstacles were surmountable in the battle.

Mook's bars were straight forward. Easy to follow. Lux does not rap like that, and I'm a bit perplexed by why he ever thought complexity would work in rap battles.

Lol so much wrong with the OP.

Ebro was not a judge. He commentated. Everyone in the building losing

And I see Lux spit so fast and above people's heads people didn't notice he was TRYING to be grimy the whole time.
The 3rd round was hilarious cuz he pulled that coat out to talk about how Lux got robbed 10 years ago.

He wasn't even doing the conscious shit as much in the battle. People just couldn't understand him.

...more than anything, what bothers me is that the real push back to Lux is that dude get at people for glorifying negativity, and THAT'S what has marginalized him.

Dude was complex as hell against Midwest Miles, but that's considered his greatest battle.

We love negativity. I don't want to hear no one deny this shit, because that's an insult to my intelligence, and I'm not going to respond well to that.

I've been all around it my entire life.

We glorify bullshit, and get mad at anyone who says anything about.

That's pure and utter bullshit.

Lux is no different than Bill Cosby.

People say dudes ain't offering solutions...

...but solutions have been offered repeatedly, no one wants to acknowledge them as solutions.

The reality is, the black people who want to do better, do better.

Fuck it. Everyone ain't gon' make it.

And let's see... Lux comes again Calico and tells the crowd dudes dad who's in jail is a lost nigga. Throws a pic on the screen which wasn't even supposed to be allowed of Cal skinny dipping w some chicks but cuts the chicks out and makes it seem like some gay shit.

Then he goes up against Holllow and calls him a lean junky, AND calls him a lost nigga as well.

Now all of a sudden against Mook he pulls out a coat on him and says he got robbed-Mook not only rebuttals that but plays a tape of Lux dissing Busta Rhymes on the sneak tip.

And we're supposed to believe when it comes to battles, Lux didn't know it was gonna be disrespectful to this level?
C'mon now, I like Lux but he lost, straight up.

you keep saying "it was complex it went over people's heads"

well here you go. this is your oppurtunity to say specifically what bar went over our headz and break it down to us slow people?

The funny thing is to people like ya'll a bar that goes over people's head can never be wack/

There is no theater without drama. If there isn't negativity then what is there to overcome?

Most just don't want to admit it because they think drama is something only females do. Sheeeeeiiit how many ock threads we got on this forum?

Back in the days of Midwest miles, he was not that complex at all, PLUS it was in a small room and Miles wasn't saying shit.

Lux ostracized himself by using the same angle for two battles, plus he was a little bit overrated. I think he's great, but he technically lost against Calico in terms of rounds. He choked in the first, even though when he came out they were going crazy over stuff that was just aight. They cheered him when he came out and looked worried as fuck when he choked. In the 2nd he was so so, and Some would say Cal won that round too. MOST would. He then unleashed the round of the century and It was just spot on. And he wasn't that complex then. He was direct.

Then against Hollow he worked the same angle and it was a debatable battle. Hollows angle exposed him, but luckily Holllow wasn't lyrical enough to totally take it but he put up a good fight. I think Lux won cuz I liked the positive angle.

Against Mook, Lux BARELY used the potosi be angle. He came out like a Harlem dope dealer, pulling up in a Lambo and Gucci down. I thought he was gonna spit some grimy shit, and some of it was. Just too complex for that big ass room.

But to say he's being ostracized when he was literally labeled the top dog- I don't agree bro.

loaded lux bar

Oh we just rapping Lux, they want another classic
Bullshit nigga they want another casket

You see how deep this bar is.....it went over our heads.

Think about it.

classic in refference to their previous battle. It was a classic. And bullshit :bullshit:

Bulls are known to shit so it's a double meaning. Like it's bullshit that people want a classic. And a double meaning because he is implying he is going to shit on mook in the battle.

 :bravo:

These niggas get clipped every second now doing it for the Vine?
Rex and Shine skipped to the Lou where was Ray for?

Dam son......

Rex & shine skipped to the lou, where was ray for.

Get it, rafer alston was a NBA point guard that was nicknamed "skip to my lou". yeah even though the double meaning was not a personal attack to mook credibility nor a insult you have to go bananas over a bar that didn't attack mook.

And dont get me started on the doing it for the vine bar....do it for the vine/doing it for the vine clipped :suicide:

This battle should have been on the Food Channel, I bought a whole network for this dish

food channel, because lux is preparing and going to eat mook. And dish, because satelite dish, and dish as in food you serve.

GTFOH nobody likes these reaching ass bars. :smh:

This should have been a scheme. This is wack, stop gassing up average ass bars. His round with calicoe the last one, none of that shit went over anybody head. That is his best round ever he ever rapped period. That should tell you a lot about all this "over his head" bullshit. :smh:

And the greatest point of all.....how would any of ya'll know if mook spit a round that went over people's head unless you stopped to examine him.....even though he had crowd momentum dont mean that he still didn't spit shit that went over people's head.

Lux ain't up there trying to give these niggas hugs and Watch Tower booklets. Lux goes for blood in his own way, BUT ...

...dudes get extra sensitive when you start telling them to stop glorifying shit that will inevitably land them in prison.

If that's wrong, then I just don't know what else to say.

Dudes would deny not being pro-black, but engage in activities that affect black people negatively OVERWHELMINGLY.

FOH.

The hardest pill to swallow for black people is, the white man doesn't feel black lives are worth much, and a large portion of our community don't feel too differently than they do.

We call Chicago 'Chiraq', for instance, and talk about how bad 'REAL' they are, like that is some shit to brag about. Never mind all the lives that are being lost to senseless violence, and the heartache a lot of these parents have to deal with.

Where is that realness when them CACs gentrify them off the turf they defend with violence against their own kind?

...and in our community street is a good thing.

That's why I said, as long as Lux is rapping about conscious shit, he will lose. Especially to a high level opponent.

The crowd will always want to see the preacher get tarred and feather.

Lost niggas want to remain so until they no longer do.

I grew up around the shit.

I still see grown ass men gettin' mad 'cause you tell them the crime statistics have fallen in their city.

That boggles my fucking mind.

You guys are funny with that over our heads shit. I don't go to the movies to hear a lecture. Battle rap has an element of grime to it. A person can stick to the formula and still bring their own element to it, but if you go to a blockbuster movie and there is not one special effect, that's not your fault for not getting what the director was trying to do, it's his for not being good enough at doing it.

Two separate issues.

Overheads = complex lyricism, which is nigh impossible to fully grasp without in it's entirely without multiple read throughs

Lecture = Conscious bars.

Everything in his bars isn't conscious shit, tho'.

It's just that it steps on the most toes, so it's what people single out.

Lux has jokes.

He does personals w/o humor.

Etc...

...but the MINUTE he starts kicks some conscious shit, niggas fall to pieces.

Like I said before...

...that Hollow battle was so close, because the dudes who glorify the negativity was glad to see the angle's that Hollow used. Mook used the SAME angles, and they worked again.

No one can tell me shit.

I've been out there trying to talk to brothas, and I've seen the looks and heard comments. Dudes don't want to hear that shit.

Hollow brings out Calico's gangster, slangin' ass pops, and niggas ate that shit out. He's coming out on stage throwing up signs. Niggas at that shit up. :smh:

Dudes want to do what they fuck they want to do, no matter who it hurts.

Then when they get locked up, 'Dwight Mann is da debil!"

As a collective, I have very low expectations at this point.

I don't think a lot of black people see how we're regressing as a collective.

It's a collective effort. Black's are doing their share of the damage, and Dwight Mann is always on the job.

There is enough hypocrisy to around and most would argue it's just entertainment however, that doesn't mean it's not influential.

It's just all posturing for tough guy status. They only aspire to power over others they feel will give them a rep in their neighborhood and the perks that come with it. None are aspiring to any real power above or beyond that. Pro-black only in lip-service not in progress.

Lux's bars are more hard hitting when they are written and read for you to visually see them.
the ordinary battle rap fan aint gonna catch his bars at the first listen....dude too complex for that.
he needs to keep that in mind when battlin. Mook kept it simplified,.....and hit em wit bars that most
niggaz could catch without thinkin.
on paper,....Lux would win......but.....its too bad that it aint that type of battle.

Lots of battlers do that. Not just Lux. Some I of y'all adding too much in this lol

Lux, Mook, Solomon, Serius, and a few others are on record as coming from a certain class. They were all considered legends but they had stopped battling for some years. At that time Mook was actually the more popular at least between him and Lux. They had a battle that was debatable and that's it. 6 years ago.

So summer madness 2 came three years ago. Lux and Mook are now legends, but the game has evolved and stages are bigger. The current leaders wanna know if they can adapt. Mook battles another legend (iron Solomon), Lux battles a new cat. Keep in mind at that time Mook was the headliner. Lux does what he does and even though they both win, Lux gets his win in dramatic fashion and is IMMEDIATELY crowned undisputed king based on his epic 3rd round. Keep in mind, that angle has already been used by Calico and actually a few others;Lux even mentions it in the setup.

Just like that Lux is considered the king, even though Mook won his shit 5-0. They've both adapted their game. Serius did too, mind you with a debatable battle against Charlie Clips. It's clear all 3 of em have it. Lux had issues with his style but no one remembers because of his 3rd. It was just that good.

Lux decides to stay with the same angle. He battles another legend who was in jail when the first one happened. Holes in his game are exposed. He just doesn't have to be THAT complex if he's in a battle cuz it's about making your POINT.

THEN HE CALLS OUT MOOK.

They hit an even bigger stage and he has not made any adjustments. Not a one. Plus, there's really no "lost nigga" angle he can play on Mook. Plus Mook KNOWS HIM TOO WELL. He exposes the same hole and blows it open even wider. Lux is cool as fuck, but he's just not that far apart from these other guys like his words seem to say. He has friends who sell dope, he's got money he owes people, and bar wide, he does have some filler, disguised as shit that goes over the top.

He loses. Partly for being kinda snobby (you can preach upliftment without shitting on your audience) and partly for being too wordy. And partly because Mook straight cooked him on performance. AND lastly because that was a bigger stage that he learned about how to work.

Look at Jaz in the Queen of the Ring. She's the recognized champ. She's a virgin and just graduated college. She doesn't go in on them about that. She just gives em bars and different angles for different opponents. That's literally the ONLY thing that keeps me liking her, cuz I'm not a fan of her performance. I wanted 40 barrs to KILL HER. 40 lost. Jaz will be there, not because she preaches, but because she wins. Simple as that.

Yeah I get what you are saying, he was saying niggas is lost because we out here selling drugs and getting locked up, basically glorifying that shit. His last couple of battles they went at him for saying that, talking about niggas gotta do, what they gotta do. He then should of countered that shit where the crowd and everyone else would have understood but he didn't do that.

It is very easy to marginalize lux. He ain't that nice. Lux is the only rapper that gets credit for spitting a bar that went over everyone's heads. Every rapper in URL can do that.

How many times has rappers spit a line and said "hold up let me slow it down" then repeat themselves and break down the verse they just repeated. Only difference is lux is choosing not to break his bars down what's hot about that

When Charlie clips schemes with his x box analogy he don't have to break it down, he could simply rap it and not explain it.

When disaster said To t rex, I'm a Arab I'll show up with that lama, no I'm a Arab I'll show up with that lama. He repeated it and in acted himself riding on a lama. After repeating it and breaking it down crowd went wild. Diz could have left it at "I'm a Arab I'll show up with that lama" and everyone would have though he was talking about a gun.

But no he explained his bar. Lux doesn't. .....thats the only difference.

And all the bars lux says that supposedly go over everyone heads are never insults or jabs.
