Demonstrators attend DC rally in support of January 6 rioters
Demonstrators attended a rally supporting those charged in January’s riot, but were outnumbered by the media and police, according to AP, ABC and Axios reports. The rally took place one block from the US Capitol in support of the hundreds of people who were charged with crimes after storming the building on January 6, 2021, The Wall Street Journal reports. Rally organizer Matt Braynard opened the rally by urging the crowd to be respectful of law enforcement. "There are uniformed officers here who I demand that you respect, you are kind to, you're respectful to and you're obedient to. They're here to keep us safe,” Braynard said, according to ABC. Capitol Police arrested one person for carrying a knife shortly before the rally began, AP reports.
