She's entitled to her opinion, but why lie about it. She may not have had control over who she interviewed, but she would have been better off not even mentioning how they knew each other. They clearly weren't friends, so why bring up that they were classmates. Unless that was her way of ensuring he stopped for her.
Even taking it back to when she initially made the comments, she should have used that opportunity to congratulate her old classmate on his success instead of cosigning the comments about him being corny and providing a back story. She may have been able to leverage their relationship into a sit down interview. There is a possibility that he would not have held a grudge from school and the only reason she got the negative energy is that she disrespected him in recent years.
if she started a rap career around high school and he was acting, it kind of comes off as low key hate. The corny guy has a successful career and her rap career never got off the ground. Maybe she feels like he shouldn't have made it.
I could see how what she described as corny without context, but it sounds like he was being prepared for opportunities he may have came across. It wouldn't have been any different than her keeping a mix tape with her.it sounds like he was being professional even in his youth.
