NO TV during the week for the kids.

As for me I definitely read more. Not gonna find anything worthwhile on TV and there's a lot of information to know. I do veg out from time to time but way less than I used to... TV actually aggravates me now.

Sports is about it for me when it comes to the tube. I'll watch tv from time to time with the wifey and her housewives shows. I be doing commentary and talking shit and she finds it rather funny.

Other than that I find it hard to watch the tube now of days. I try and find cool stuff on the net that appeases my hunger for knowledge.

That s a very liberal/academia (ie arrogance) type stance......its another thing that says "hey I am better than you idiot box watchers."

I can take but so much tv

It gets so fuckin annoying
It's like cac imagery all day
And night

Fuck filling my head with that bullshit

Do watch sports most time spent on internet
Where you control the information your mind absorbs

a lot was already covered in this thread.

like most tech, it's just a tool.

some tools are better than others and can be used wisely and unwisely.

that said, i watch very little t.v.

start @ 2:00 min

With torrent and streaming for movies or TV shows ..YouTube for entertainment and BGOL for the news. A TV for what exactly???

I don't watch much on TV other than sports to be honest with you

But that doesn't make me "smart"

People don't watch TV for several reasons tho

And not all of it has to do with them being "smart" either

Could be smart, cheap, weird, lame, blind, etc

Supposedly Black's watch 70 hrs of TV a week, aren't we almost 30% of movie goers also?

I think TV has it's place, but I think I've gotten to the place where when I want to watch something, i figure I will catch up on it eventually. Example I still haven't seen the 3rd season of Power or Suits...but it's not that big of a deal for me..i'll catch up on it eventually. It's just not a priority really..:dunno:

It has to be used for the tool that it is, as stated already.
Certain shows elevate your mind, most are a waste.
My girl clowns me watching Ray Donovan/Billions/Power, etc.
"They're just late night soap operas!" she says.
She's right.

I worked in TV so I know the bullshit behind the business.
Imagine being @ ESPN and having SportsCenter on ALL FUCKING DAY on monitors as you walk the hallways!!!
You learn to tune it out after a while."DA-DA-DA DA-DA-DA"
Production costs rule what ends up on the tube.

I watch a lot of news - one of my businesses requires it.
Local news 6-7am, then Morning Joe/CNN but they have become sorry-ass sources (as if they don't watch their own networks the night before).
Lately I've been listening to Tom Joyner online, turning off the TV before I head out in the am.

I like interview shows - one on one CSPAN type shit.
I watch PBS Newshour rather than network news. Losing Gwen Ifill really hurt.

My real love is radio; mainly NPR and jazz segments on college radio.
BBC on clock radio puts me to sleep.
Favorite radio program - Snap Judgement. Storytelling over dope beats.

Unfortunately we also have people who are impressed that you actually "read" for enjoyment and knowledge.

Even though this was from the Boondocks there are really people out here like that:smh:.

TV does not make people dumber. Some of the smartest people I know watch a shitload of it.

However, TV is addictive. how many times have you found yourself flipping channels looking for something good on? there's a million more constructive forms of relaxation out there, yet we just keep working that remote trying to get a dopamine fix.

Then we wonder why we don't have time to do anything.

I've also noticed that after a long TV session I close my eyes and see flickering lights inside my head. it's like a constant distraction that makes clear thoughts near impossible. It makes everyday life seem much more agitating and the only way to get rid of that feeling is to watch more TV.

I'm working hard to break this addiction. my plans so far is to watch all of my favorite shows and YouTube channels on Monday. After that unplug the TV and Roku until next Monday. Shameless is done for the season and walking Dead is almost finished so hopefully that will help me gradually break this habit for good.
