Keyword is SHE. A lot of 'Yellow Fever' guys aren't going to care where she's from or what she looks like. The average Asian man's '5' woman is probably an '8 or 9' to a man with a fetish. Getting help to get into college isn't a problem too because, in the end, she's still a woman and a minority. Someone is going to look out for her.
Anyhow, a lot of Southeast Asian countries immigrant families were refugees and not already somewhat wealthy like a lot of East Asians were when they immigrated. Hmong's, in general, tend to have a 38% poverty rate. East Asians know this and tend to look down on them so there's no real help there, yet society, in general, expects them to meet the model minority stereotype.
