Dear God..The FANTASTIC FOUR And X-MEN May Finally Come To The MCU As Fox Looks To Sell Movie Studio

I do hate to say one this thing... I am slightly and I mean slightly worried about this. Disney is now the most power studio the world has ever seen. The closest equivalent would have to be the old school RKO studios.

They just spent 50 billion on this asset meaning that other areas will likely see cuts.

I was looking up there cash on hand earlier and found this, so maybe not...
https://www.fool.com/investing/general/2014/07/16/disneys-956-billion-arsenal.aspx

Disney in 2014 has 1.1 Billion Treasury Stock Shares. At the time the article was written, that was worth $41.58 Billion at $37.80 a share. There stock is now worth $110.57 a share. If they still have 1.1 Billion of them that would be worth $121.627 Billion if they sell them off. They basically have the cash on hand for this.

Problem is for now....

For this to work all your studios needs to bank. We know Marvel, Star Wars, and Avatar will do it... the problem comes down to the lower studios. Remember Espn is already getting KO’d with layoffs because they lose more then they bring in.... I can see other studios feeling the same heat. Especially the smaller projects.

Not too late to do some re-writes..could have Samuel L Jackson appear as Nick Fury in the end credits scene for either Deadpool 2 or X-Force

No need to DC it up... No need to rush... Let that shit fail on its own...

Stick to their planned movies and TV shows then bring them in as planned for Phase 4...

Let Fox's X-Men die the slow death it deserve...

The upcoming comic conventions are about to cash out due to the new hype.

Wow...

I just realized something

Disney has had its OWN convention the last few years...

which I heard is AWESOME

wonder how all these will effect Comic-Con?

As part of the deal, they pick up all of the local FOX Regional channels. They don't get FS1, FS2 and Big Ten Network, but some predict this will help ESPN. I assume they will name them ESPN Detroit, etc...

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...-local-strategy-to-combat-its-financial-woes/

For starters, ESPN will be acquiring a massive amount of new content, as Fox Sports’ 22 regional sports networks (RSNs from here on out) control the local cable rights to the following professional teams:

NBA (17): Suns, Hornets, Pistons, Magic, Pacers, Pelicans, Timberwolves, Cavaliers, Thunder, Hawks, Grizzlies, Mavericks, Spurs, Heat, Clippers, Bucks, Nets.

MLB (15): Diamondbacks, Tigers, Rays, Royals, Cardinals, Twins, Reds, Padres, Braves, Rangers, Marlins, Angels, Brewers, Indians, Yankees.

NHL (12): Coyotes, Hurricanes, Red Wings, Panthers, Blues, Wild, Blue Jackets, Predators, Stars, Lightning, Kings, Ducks.

That doesn’t even include college football and basketball, plus Major League Soccer and the WNBA.

Let’s put it another way: The total price tag of the Disney-Fox deal is estimated to be $52.4 billion. CNBC’s David Faber estimates that Fox’s RSNs alone would be valued at $20 billion, or more than 38 percent of that amount. This isn’t an entertainment deal; it’s a sports deal.

Probably make it a VOD/Netflix release rather than just can it outright

Word is Bryan Singer is going crazy on the set.of.his.latest movie...with all the sexual harassment shit coming out in Hollywood he must know he's about to be assed out since it's.common knowledge he's a homo and maybe.pedophile

VOD that shit.and reboot the X-Men properly. Just bring back Hugh Jackman and Patrick.Stewart

I don't ever want to see Hugh Jackman play Logan/Wolverine again. Never cared for his take on the character.

They need a short, stocky unknown, or at least do what Peter Jackson did and use camera tricks to make Wolverine look under 5'5.

His height, or lack thereof was a part of his characterization that was sorely missed in the films.

Agree. Hugh kind of towers over everyone else. They should go with a shorter version. He should be shorter than Strange but taller than Spidey.

This dude?

The Government Might Be Investigating The Disney-Fox Merger

X-Men fans might be happy about the news that Disney plans to buy a large portion of 21st Century Fox, but the Democrats on the Senate and House antitrust subcommittees aren’t as thrilled.

According to Variety, top Democrats have voice their concerns about the merger, which could potentially violate antitrust laws.

“I’m concerned about the impact of this transaction on American consumers,” said Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), the ranking member of the Senate Judiciary antitrust committee. She also commented that this merger was “another industry-changing merger, which would have major implications in television, film, and media.”

Klobucher has reportedly asked Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) and Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), who chair the antitrust subcommittee and the Judiciary Committee, respectively, to schedule a hearing on the matter.

Representative David Cicilline (D-R.I.) called for his committee, the House Judiciary’s antitrust subcommittee, to take a closer look at the deal as well. “Disney’s proposed purchase of 21st Century Fox threatens to put control of TV, movie, and news content into the hands of a single media giant,” he said.

“If it’s approved,” he continued, “this merger could allow Disney to limit what consumers can watch and increase their cable bills. Disney will gain more than 300 channels, 22 regional sports networks, control over Hulu, and a significant portion of Roku.”

Since Disney’s acquisition of Lucasfilm in 2012, the company has already emerged as a leading, monolithic force in American entertainment. While that can be exciting—it’s thrilling to see so many compelling characters and worlds rubbing shoulders with each other—it can also be stifling. It’s hard to compete in the genre movie sphere if you’re not the MCU or Star Wars, and if this merger goes through that problem could get much worse.

Hugh Jackman might come back as Wolverine, according to Winter Soldier Sebastian Stan

After recently retiring as Wolverine, Hugh Jackman could be returning as Wolverine.

According to Sebastian Stan, who plays Bucky Barnes aka the Winter Soldier in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Jackman is thinking about a potential X-Men and Avengers crossover.

Speaking at an Ace Comic Con panel (via comicbook.com), Stan said: "Recently I happened to be sitting next to Hugh Jackman.

"I didn't know what other awkward thing I could talk about but to be like, 'Am I going to see you soon?' I don't know.

"But he said a couple of things to me and I'll just leave it at that. Otherwise, I feel like I'm going to get into trouble with somebody.

"I asked him because I kept thinking... Logan was supposed to be the last Wolverine thing or whatever and he said to me, well I think he publicly said out there, which was like he's been thinking about it and it's been on his mind. So, I don't... he may be."

Jackman previously said that following Logan, he would definitely be hanging up his adamantium claws after nine movies playing the superhero.

However, news of his potential return comes after Disney bought 21st Century Fox's entertainment assets for $52.4 billion (£39bn).

Before the Disney/Fox deal was officially confirmed, Jackman revealed: "It's interesting, because for the whole 17 years I kept thinking, 'That would be so great', like I would love to see, particularly, Iron Man and the Hulk and Wolverine together.

"And every time I saw an Avengers movie, I could just see Wolverine in the middle of all of them like, punching them all on the head.

"But it was like, 'Oh well, that's not gonna happen,' and it was interesting just when I first saw that headline – it was just the possibility of it and who knows what's gonna happen, obviously – I was like, 'Hang on!'

"But I think, unfortunately, the ship has sailed for me, but for someone else I would like to see Wolverine in there."

Comcast May Reportedly Try to Outbid Disney for 21st Century Fox

In December, the Walt Disney Company fulfilled a Simpsons’ prophecy by announcing its move to buy 21st Century Fox. Even though it seemed like the $52.4 billion deal was already in the bag, a new report by CNBC revealed that communications company Comcast could be taking on Disney in a bidding war, affecting the future of projects like X-Men, Modern Family, and even The Simpsons.

The situation hinges on a potential merger between AT&T and Time Warner that the Justice Department halted last year. The $85 billion deal is stalled under the current administration, to the dismay of many other media giants that are looking to consolidate the industry. If the merger does make it through, then Comcast could attempt to bid for 21st Century Fox. Reportedly, Rupert Murdoch took Disney’s offer because the transition of assets was predicted to be easier, but a successful AT&T and Time Warner merger could change that.

As CNBC points out, Comcast has already acquired NBC Universal, so this wouldn’t be the communication company’s first entertainment entity. The deal between Disney and Fox includes 20th Century Fox, Fox Searchlight, 20th Century Fox Television, FX Productions, FX Networks, Fox21, National Geographic Partners, and more. It also gives Disney a 30 percent stake in Hulu.

Meanwhile, 21st Century Fox said it would put its Fox Broadcasting network and Fox News Channel into a new company for shareholders.

The shows and films affected by the agreement include Deadpool, Avatar, X-Men, This Is Us, Modern Family, and The Simpsons. At the time of the deal's announcement, Disney said that the acquisition would allow the company to "reunite the X-Men, Fantastic Four and Deadpool with the Marvel family under one roof and create richer, more complex worlds of inter-related characters and stories that audiences have shown they love."

It’s unclear if Disney will increase its offer should Comcast make a higher bid, or if the company would back down. Unfortunately, this new report means that it’s too early to get excited about an ultimate X-Men meets Avengers meets Fantastic Four meets Star Wars (hey, who knows?) meets Black Panther movie coming anytime soon.
