Oh, I understand "the Process" much better than you can imagine.Like most, you've never understood the principle of process.
Without question, I'm easily one of the biggest Superman fans on the board and I absolutely love MoS.
So when I read comments like yours I laugh. Mainly because this Superman showed more "Humanity" than any iteration to date. Especially when placed in the backdrop of a real world with all of its dynamics and complexities.
Brilliant movie!
Anyway back on track...Aquaman!
It's funny, Henry Cavill looks the part of Superman but he has absolutely no charisma and doesn't fool anybody playing Clark Kent. He can't act his way out of a wet paper bagTHANK YOU...
I made these very same points about the differences between Superman and Snyder's version of the characters a few years ago and I was raked over the coals for it.
What's the point of making Superman dower and angsty just like Batman, The Punisher or Wolverine...?

This symbol is supposed to inspire HOPE.
Not fear...
Have you guys noticed that virtually every version of Superman that has been on TV or the big screen was a BIG hit largely because the writers, directors and actors were faithful to who & what the character is and is all about? And the character didn't INTENTIONALLY kill anyone. (Generally speaking, people die simply only because he couldn't prevent someone from dying).
In all of these best known & accepted versions, fans & critics both loved and enjoyed Superman.

But, when Zac Snyder and crew decided to change up Superman and gave us THIS dark, murderous "more realistic" version:

Fans and critics were far less happy with the final product and the films he's been in have been only "moderately" or poorly received...?
- He doesn't smile.
- He's dark and gloomy.
- We NO IDEA what he stands for.
- HE KILLS HIS OPPONENTS...

I think Henry Cavill will be phenomenal as Superman. It's funny, Henry Cavill looks the part of Superman but he has absolutely no charisma and doesn't fool anybody playing Clark Kent. He can't act his way out of a wet paper bag
That just shows you how great actor Christopher Reeve was at being Superman. Now, the script and direction sucked after Superman 2, but no one doubted his ability to play the part. Watching Henry Cavill play Superman makes my mind hurt, I never finished the first movie
So you're saying it wasn't him at fault, but the director or the writing? I don't know who to blameI think Henry Cavill will be phenomenal as Superman.
Just as soon as he's ALLOWED to portray the real Superman.

it's been a while
can you point to a few scenes
only one I can think of is him saving his childhood friend in the midst of the smallville fight and the oilrig scene before he became superman
Can we stop saying someone doesn't understand a point simply because they disagree with it?Like most, you've never understood the principle of process.

1) If that's your definition of a character being a "Hero" then you're going to be very disappointed with MoS. This movie was never(for a specific reason) suppose to approach the CBM genre like every other CBM. That was intentional from conception.
2) The movie is truly an artistic take on themes. Very powerful, uncomfortable and controversial ones.
Being honest, it's one of the reasons (Besides everyone thinking they know the character see @CptMARVEL ) why few get its brilliance.
MoS has always been about the backdrop and lesser about Clark Kent/Superman. It's also the secret why this character more than any other get catapulted as the greatest....Process in a blender...lol!
Modern CBM has absolutely spoiled the richness and depth of this media. It's pureed to the audience and it's a shame!
Oh, I understand "the Process" much better than you can imagine.
However; I (like MOST long time fans) did NOT like the unnecessary deviations from our beloved characters that Snyder and crew made for their big screen versions.![]()
It's a combination of things. So you're saying it wasn't him at fault, but the director or the writing? I don't know who to blame
You do realize Warner Bros considers BvS and justice league to be failures, right?Interesting, All these years later you still think MoS was about the Superman/Clark Kent character?
As a "long time" fan you believe Synder and Co. Added deviations that weren't always there? Going as far as to call them "unnecessary", even!
@CptMARVEL, You know nothing!
You, like many, have allowed bias and specs on those lenses to tint your vision here.
It's also why virtually unknown characters to the big screen (The majority of the Marvel-verse) have had a much easier time.
There's been no precedence for myopia.
no one brought up hero
simply that this was a poor representation of the superman character.
you mentioned he showed humanity which is one of my complaints but didn't reference any examples.
seems like you are missing the my point and CptMvl's
I think it was a visually compelling action flick but as a superman flick it missed the mark
none of your responses address that.
It's a combination of things.
But I've never held him personally responsible for the ugly portrayal of "Angsty Superman".
He was simply doing what he was directed to do.
Clearly, even Cavill knows that the character portrayal needs to be more in line with the comic books:

Dude, you're reaching.
We already know that you're a shill for whatever the DCEU puts out. (Especially when it's crappy).
And Marvel's "virtually unknown characters" have absolutely NOTHING to do with what we're discussing here.
Stop trying to deflect from the topic.
This is all about course correcting the DCEU...![]()
No.
I'm a shill on a board that's 99.9% Marvel everything...lol...We'll agree to disagree.
No.
You're a DC shill on a porn site comprised of many comic book and sci-fi fans. Period.![]()
To who....?
and take that avatar down...you're a disgrace!
I'm looking forward to this. Aquaman is one of my favorite characters. I hope they don't mess this up.
I'm not really feeling the look of Aquaman... Or is it just me?
