DC Slutwalk protests assumption that skimpy dress is consent to rape
The Slutwalks began in Toronto after a woman was raped and the cops told her she "brought it on herself" by not dressing conservatively enough. Outrages women staged the first of many "slutwalks," and on August 13 the event came to DC.Several hundred marchers took to the streets despite rain just before they started to gather and an outright thunderstorm during the Sylvan Theater rally after the march. Both men and women were represented, of all sexual preferences, with dress varying from almost nothing a some women in Muslim veils. All had the same message-that how someone dresses is NEVER an open sexual invitation to all and sure as hell not consent to rape.

I read about this. People dress to get attention and that attention is not always positive (that's the reality), BUT you can walk outside in a bikini and that doesn't give somebody the right to shoot you or punch you in the face does it? Rape is a violent assault. Sex is just the weapon, but it is no different. We wouldn't excuse somebody deciding to beat you with a bat because they didn't like your jacket.

Males will always make this belief and assumption. And instead of telling men to not rape they tell women what not to wear.

Males fear and control over women will never go away i think.

So if a person walks down the street with money hanging half out his pocket I have the right to grab what I see??
Just because something you want looks easy to get doesn't mean you can have it. More than likely the person wearing skimpy clothes is putting a message out there but the person having to resort to rape is mad because he wasn't the intended recipient of that message.

I love wearing close to nothing on my days off and honey I wish a n*&%a would:angry:

That demonstration is a perfect example of a reaction to a society that has run amok. Dress style, sexual orientation, abortion clinics, Peta, seems someone is always meddling in the lifestyle of others. These anti__________ (fill in the blank) groups are eroding away the rights of average citizen.

The special interest groups and lobbyist are controlling the decisions of elected politicians and were the ones consistently having our rights removed. This country is no longer the land of the free. Never was really but now our society has lost its way. There's a big difference in genuine concern and what were seeing today.

Bad behavior is bad behavior no excuse! We don’t live in a free for all society and we need to make the punishment fit the crime and less excuses for a defense.
