1. there are countless documentaries and news stories about catholic priest abuse of children. as much as that is swept under the rug people have went to prison and been punished otherwise for it. there was a major story about it just a couple of weeks ago.
2. not so long ago we had a months long saga about jerry sandusky and penn state. that shit was talked about everyday. documentaries, docu-series and movies have been made about that. sandusky and others went to prison over this.
the r. kelly shit is at full volume for us because it hit so close to home for our community. as i have stated before i have been telling the same r. kelly story for almost 30 years. didn't shit happen back then. no one believed us. and people that KNOW what happened still play his shit. i don't play his shit and i refuse to listen to it.

I agree, however you have to also consider there are many dynamics that exist simultaneously.
In order for a person not to fall for it, that person has to be consciously aware there is even a problem to begin with.
In a perfect system, your logic makes sense. But we don’t live in a perfect system, so we have to address what we have at hand, which is that people (us in particular for this discussion) are easily influenced and manipulated.
It’s easy to point out what we need to do to take away the power from them, but it’s not easy to execute when their exists a multitude of things that is directly related to the power we give them.
