Daybreakers Movie Review

Spill.com is pretty trustworthy when it comes to movie reviews, and so far....they've never gotten it wrong (imo)

No one cares. People on this board hate almost every fucking movie that drops. Such a shitty review i must say. Fuck your opinion.
Co-sign. Ain't this the same fuck who tried to say Avatar wasn't a good movie? Or was it saying Precious was a good movie? Either way, fuck his opinion until he can write comprehensive reviews.

On the real.....I had to walk out this movie with wifey last night......

The OP is DEAD ON ironically.....

Came in with HIGH expectations and was intrigued by the plot and then was THOROUGHLY disappointed. The acting was off, the plot was ALL over the place....the cure for vampirism was type lame...
The mutated vampires were aight though...

BUT the atmosphere and premise was dope...

All in all the whole product just seemed rushed. As if it could've been a much better movie with an extra hour to tie everything in.
Wait for the BGOL copy.....

No Blade its a no go for me

but thanks for the review

I really wish there could be another Blade movie starring Wesley Snipes directed by a director with vision to erase memories of the abomination that was Blade: Trinity.:smh::smh:

I wasnt gonna say anything due to the fact that the OP is a bitch ass nigga with a grudge who loves calling me a hater, but you're right. This isnt a fucking review. Its a nigga on the rag giving an unwanted and poorly articulated opinion.

Fuck your feelings nigga.

Wow. On the other hand, who even goes to the movies these days? I got a 52" HDTV and surround sound and so many HD movies and TV series downloaded I have a hard time keeping up.

Same here but some stuff you just want to go to the theater and see. You can't tell me you can sit down and watch avatar in 3D and it looks like it looked in the theater.

If I get a home setup like that I wouldn't worry about going to the show either.

 not everyone is into downloading bootlegs, while I'ma avid downloader its attitudes like this that make hollywood come out with shitty movies. Cats would rather download the good movies instead of supporting them then bitch about all the crap that comes out

I'm just gonna go ahead and rescue this thread

This was a really good review. Based on the scenes and the way they described it, it seems more character and mood driven rather than depending on horror or action. I see why this film may not be for everyone.

Nah that movie was straight fire!

Lmao I thought the audience was gonna clap at the end but the shit was so gruesome it shocked the audience a bit lmao i love gore but even i was shocked.

I can't wait until they do a prequel or sequel. I give it 5 stars
.

Watching it, you get the feeling there's another one coming...its a pretty dynamic story line.

Much like District 9, its a movie with a message in a sci fi/horror setting. Its a serious look at Corporatism through the lense of Vampirism. I liked it alot. It just left you with a feeling like there's more to be told about the story.

If you are referring to me, no, I'm not that "same fuck."

In a nutshell folks, Daybreakers could have been an excellent movie, but the screenwriting was disgustingly lazy, (SPOILER ALERT: motherfuckers didn't even bother to rationalize scientifically in detail how or why the "cure" even worked on some first time screenwriter amateur shit, classic), the script was structurally unsound, and again, the direction was awful right down to the movie's score.

There were moments when I felt like I was watching an episode of the twilight zone, I kid you not.

The flick was bogus, man, but you don't have to take my word for it.

I went to see it, and absolutely hated this movie.

It had plot problems that I won't get into, cuz imo an action flick need not have a perfect plot.

My biggest problem was the action. In the promos you see these crazy badass looking vampire creatures, but they're not shown enough in the movie.

They also never explain why they couldn't farm humans. One woman could have 20+ kids. Why weren't they able to do this??

Don't ever make a thread talking about a movie again. Please.

I went into this movie thinking it was going to be trash, this thread made me wonder even more going in...

But coming out?

SPOILER WARNING

I was pleasantly surprised. The direction of the film was good, it had a film noir feel to the whole thing. The scenes with vampires felt really cold and dark, and the scenes with the humans were more vivid in color, even at night. So you don't have that right.

Also, the cure was really simple. Direct sunlight kills vampires. However there is a moment right before death where they become alive again, right before they burn to death again.

What happened with Elvis' character was that at that moment his heart was restarted he hit the water which put out the flame that would have killed him completely. So he reverted. Simple, and you don't need to have a wholly scientific explanation, and you know why? These are vampires to begin with, you can make up your own rules.

What made the movie interesting to me was that it wasn't the standard vampire flick. When I saw the preview I thought it was going to be aboue vampires vs. devolved vampires. Thankfully the devolved vampires was only in the movie for one reason - to put the vampires in the shoes of the humans who came before them. That was good to see. And it made vampirism come full circle. Infected blood makes you a vampire, infected vampire blood with the cure makes you human.

The only thing I didn't like was the very end, when they ride off...what do they do from then? I would have liked if the Vampires eat themselves back to humans, but that might have been too gory I suppose.

It was a much smarter film that I thought it'd be. If you want to see vampires go nuts, skip it. That spill.com review was on point. This was pretty much the sequel to I am Legend.

There was much more money in making a synthetic version of blood and selling that to the general population, while saving what's left of humans to sell to the highest bidders.

Make no mistake about it, this movie isn't about vampires so much as it's about corporate greed.

Think of the humans as oil. We run through oil without giving it much thought, and are very greedy as a society when it comes to oil. We don't move away from oil because the money is in just that, the oil.

I was extremely happy that the film didn't give in to being the movie you wanted it to be. We seen that already with Blade II. Ok infected vampires that hunt vampires and they need to be eliminated. YAWN.

Werd? So where do I cop a pair of them bad boys? Don't tell me I gotta go see the movie? Maybe stand outside the theatre?

Either you go see the movie or cop a pair off of someone you know that went to see the movie.

I dont think the 3d effect will work on a bootleg copy of the movie though.

For those that needed a scientific explanation for the cure.

I thought it was simple.

Sunlight is an obvious source of life.

It just doesn't effect plants.

Not only does it warm you but it helps your body to produce vitamins and it effects skin color, can help detox the body not to mention it has positive psychological effects on humans, sets the ryhtm of life ie. being awake and asleep. Sunlight suppresses the secretion of prolactin which aids in sleep, melatonin which effects mood energy levels and growth hormones, lack of sun even effects food cravings etc..

Film noir? No my brother. Apparently, you don't even know what film noir is. :smh: You might wanna look it up.

Yes, it's a vampire movie (the vampirism serving as a backdrop for the examination of the human condition, corporate greed, societal politics, etc.), but you can't just change the rules. Bend them, yes, but not change them. How would you feel if the flick dictated that you can turn someone else into a vampire by just looking at them? I'm certain you wouldn't go for that because that is a severe contradiction to the vampire mythology. It's too farfetched. No one would buy that, the same way I can't buy into the bogus and inarticulate explanation for exactly HOW the vampire cure worked.

It was a crucial part of the story [the cure], and you can't leave audiences to fill in the blanks on those types of things. It's called lazy screenwriting. The writers didn't do any research to underline or enforce the suspension of disbelief.

The whole "sunlight, heart starts pumping again" nonsense cure is not a rational nor well thought out explanation for what was implied to be a an infectious disease epidemic that caused vampirism in the flick. It's weak.

I didn't go to see the flick expecting to see a "Blade" movie, but I will tell you this: Blade was written more intelligently than Daybreakers.

Sequel to "I am Legend"? Now it all makes sense. That flick was trash too, and I worked on that flick when it was shooting in NY. Shit was garbage. I was even more shocked that the same dude who directed "Constantine" (which I liked), also directed "I am Legend."

If you thought "I am Legend" was good, I am not surprised that you would like Daybreakers.

That's your imagination at work, because the films writers and directors never suggested that that was how the "cure" worked. Now if they had taken the time to even present an explanation such as yours, it would've helped a little, but they didn't.

More holes in that film than swiss cheese. Daybreakers should have been a twilight zone episode. :smh:
