Integration was, in my opinion, probably the death blow to our sense of self as a people. Many of us are more focused on being good Americans than we are on building our own communities, because we dont see them as ours. Before integration, the best of us got it in with the worst of us by default on the regular. Take all the black professionals out of the black community with the 'opportunity' to live in a better, whiter neighborhood, and what's left in the black community? There's a scene from 'Trick Baby' that sums up white people's views on integration pretty well.

Similarly, at the end of his life, Malcolm realized that segregation wasn't the answer either. The result of separate but equal laws was more Jim crow and Black folks getting the worst of everything. Even if we got our own state like some people were arguing for, just take a look at the Native Americans and how third world nations are kept in a perpetual cycle of poverty by the racist, imperialist, capital system. Segregation just makes it easier for these cacs to identify and abuse.

Malcolm identified the need for human rights struggle and the need for all people of color to recognize they have a common enemy. Which was why he started to OAAU and did two tours of Africa in his final eleven months. Martin recognized the need for income and wealth equality, and the need for an attack on the capitalist system.
That's where these two giants were at when their lives were taken and where the Black liberation struggle should be continued. We can't do that if we're still making dumb arguments about segration vs. integration. That's in the past and the present struggle continues.

Our youth is dumb because their elders were dumb and failed them. Gotta remember we also taught them going to white schools, living in white neighborhoods, and getting a job instead of creating industry inside your own community was a good option.

Under Segregation, negroes had to create their own and do for self. Now under integration blacks apparently can’t do without whites and rely on them for everything such as food, housing, jobs, etc.

I'm currently reading a book on "black" music. In it, it states that black music (R &B) is probably the most authentic creation that has come from black people.
It continues by stating that instead of using this new industry that couldn't be copied or duplicated to build an economic base, we chose to listen to the NAACP & other organizations that did not want to build an economic base (feeling that once we intergrated, we would not need one, as we would become part of the American economy).
It also mentioned the mind state that went into this desire to be intergrated. Apparently, the people that "spoke" for us were the bourgeois, who wanted to be looked at as better than Negroes. No wonder they went so hard to intergrate.
It then looks to now, where the music industry is s multi billion dollar beast that exists solely off the influence of the black experience & how we have no true stake or investment in it. How the industry co-opts young black rage & fury via the indys, commercialized it & mass produces it for entirely their own profit.

David says alot of dumb shit. He might as well should have said this yesterday on MLK day and added MLK name to his beef about intergration. I bet he wouldn't have done that though since MLK wanted all races to come together and be welcoming to each other. I'm sure he didn't want to catch the backlash from that.
