Where I work at 80% (at least) of the employees are women and about 90% of them can't cook...they bring microwave "dinners" in for lunch and they marvel at the fact that I cook my own lunch (usually a humble meal I'm not a great cook)...you have chics as young as 20 to chics as old as 50...CAN'T COOK...I even seen one chic fukk up a chicken pot pie in the microwave...this is sad...how is this generation of American women plan on building up nourishing our kids when all they can do is microwave food...I mean the shit is ridiculous...white women Black women they can't cook for shit...this is why it's crucial for me to get with a woman with Carribbean roots that she still upholds and values...! Rant done...!

Well, I'm gonna have to agree with the title of this post and don't get confused "don't cook" with "can't cook". I remember growing up and my mom with always bitch at my sister for not making the food right(we're Jamaican). Fast-forward to Christmas, I ate my sister food and was like damn thats good, but here's the thing I've had a few girl friends who would cook all the time, but that shit was GARBAGE, so even my sister previously mediocre for is the shit now. I can't blame the effort, I just think most cuisine outside the US has some much flavor, but Americans have no particular flavor to it. I still can't fuck with steak, it just a piece of meat with some salt and pepper. I could go on and on about this ,but most of the women that cook for me get their feeling hurt. Nowadays, I just bite the bullet and eat out all the time. Expensive, but fuck it, I'm a Taurus and love to indulge.

Be glad they going to work and not on welfare *sheesh*. Back in the day when more women were stay at home moms while the husband went off to work, they had time too hold down the kitchen.

lol, i'm biased. growing up in the caribbean, american women were not looked upon
favorably. the two that i dealt with preferred to eat out than cook at home. one
was glad i cooked, the other would try to dissuade me even when i said i'd cook.
my ex would come up here on jobs and cook for me. another caribbean chick would

Actually I DO know being that I am the one who made the thread and work/communicate with these women on a daily basis...it's you who are making the assumptions...many of these women have stated on many occasions that they can not cook save for a relative few things they can do in the kitchen...and some are impressed when they see I can cook some though you can see get visibly annoyed because they are ashamed that a man as busy as them can find/take time to learn and cook while they settle for eating that junk...and this is not a "Black women" thing...last time I checked Caribbean women for the most part are BLACK WOMEN...this is an American women thread...like I said what I have observed applies to both Black and white women that I have come into contact with out here...

My parents are from Haiti. I was taught to cook at 5. And I cook everything, from "hotdogs and hamburgers" to vegetable lasagna to my native dishes to soup and stews to pollo ala brasa. I even cook fish, and I hate eating fish.

I know my family doesn't have Caribbean background and I learned to cook at a young age. I have a friend from the Caribbean who can't cook to save her life, so what does the Caribbean thing have to do with it? I'm tired of people with a Caribbean background putting down Black Americans...

Maybe its because my grandmother worked a lot and I was the only girl in the house, but I've always like to help out in the kitchen. But I have friends who had parents who came home every night and cooked for them, and they aren't the best cooks...
