Can't remember the full context of the convo TRU but when I weighed in, my concern was that his example (big money up-front before delivering on court) would lead others with less talent to toss their dice with false hopes.TRUFICTION said:this is an interesting conversation.
I REMEMBER WHEN HE WAS TALKING OF GOING PRO,
SOME OF THE OLD HEADS HERE MIGHT REMEMBER THE SUBJECT.
ALL THE ARM CHAIR BGOL RESIDENT KNOW IT ALL, SUPER EDUCATED
SAID " HEs STUPID HE NEEDS TO GO TO COLLEGE"
"HE'LL BE BROKE SOON AS HE GETS MONEY"
"HE WONT KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH HIS MONEYWITHOUT A DEGREE"
AND SO ON.
WRONG AGAIN.
yeah, i was trying to figure out what the fuck would be the point of a house like this and you know what.... that still doesn't explain it. he could just as easily put that money into his charity orginizations but it is his money so to each his own.Dwayne Wayne said:Hes not building a house; he's building a tax shelter. Problem is that if it goes in, it has to stay in. Can't hide money under a tax free blanket and try to use it later.Gods_Debris said:...he could just as easily put that money into his charity orginizations but it is his money so to each his own.

But, sadly, the NBA machine seems to be content with sub-par ball players so, hey, everyone can do the "one and done" now (if any at all).
So "we" were wrong but right in principle (at least those that shared my argument).

LOL!! Agree whole-heartedly. (especially the Kobe remarkTRUFICTION said:THAT IS A LEGITIMATE ARGUMENT
AND ANOTHER GREAT POINT,
HOWEVER IT TAKES TWO OR MORE TO ARGUE
AND YOU DONT HAVE THAT HERE.
I AGREE WITH YOU.
THERE WERE PEOPLE HATING AND SAYING HE WASNT GONNA KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH HIS MONEY BECAUSE HE NEEDS A DEGREE.
THEN THEY SAID HE WOULDNT EVEN MAKE IT IN THE NBA.
IF THERE ARE PEOPLE ....and there are,
WHO ARENT AS TALENTED AND TRY TO FORCE THEMSELVES INTO A LEBRON SITUATION RATHER HAN BEING WELCOMED AS LEBRON WAS,
THEN THEY ARE STUPID AND DESERVE WHAT THEY END UP WITH.
I THINK THE PEOPLE IN THE NBA KNOW WHATS GOOD.
IN THIS CASE THEY WERENT WORNG.
LABRON IS NOT SUB-PAR,
NEITHER IS COBYS BITCH ASS.
SAME AS ANYTHING ELSE THE NAY-SAYERS SHOULDNT MAKE BLANKET STATEMENTS BASED ON THEYRE OWN MISERABLE LIFESTYLES AND
LACK OF TALENT.
