DAMN Shanahan is FIRED??!!!!

prolly will come to the jets and win a sb with favre....

As the announcers would have you believe it Favre is "done"...they sound so smug and confident in their assumption that he won't be back I'd like to see him comeback just to shut them up...

WOW!!! Really didn't see that one coming.

He is a hell of a coach. He will wind up somewhere making 6-8 million a year.....if he decides to coach.

Damn, didn't see this one coming. ^^^ Wasn't all of his RBs hurt at one point?

7 rbs was on the IR,they picked up Tatum Bell towards the end of the season.

The Problem With Denver They Started Like 6-2 The Last 8 Years And End Up 8-8 or 7-9.

He Still Can Coach. One of Few Coaches Who Wins With Little Talent.

Ill take that further they only won 1 playoff game every since Elway retired

Denver's problem was their D was extremely weak. Shannahan aint fixed that shit for years. If they had lost to San diego respectively, he'd still be coach. But, damn having 51 pts dropped on you and being in 1st place all season, except for Sunday night, I'd fire his ass too. LOL:dance:

I agree with you on that, they hired Jim Bates one of the best defensive coordinator in the NFL couldnt fix the defense in one year...I think if they game Bates a few more years with his players the defense could of been in the top 15.

That was a dumb ass move. For all the Broncos faults, the playcalling wasn't one of them. The better question is, 'Who do you replace him with?' is there a coach with a better record on the market right now? Nope. Dumb ass move.

I expect Shanahan to be on the 1st flight to Cleveland ASAP.

True. It wasn't his fault. Damned owners can't understand that you can't always win. We could use him in Cleveland, though. He is better than any candidate out there I have seen.

it will be alot of team willing to snatch him up. Same goes for mangini both are good coachs.

Why are people surprised, he hasn't done nothing with the team since the days of John Elway ... and Elway left damn near 10 years ago. Elway was his meal ticket, once he retired the Broncos haven't really been relevant in the NFL since. Yeah, they made the playoff, had winning seasons, but the team is still needing an identity since Elway left.

... but I do like their logo!

Hiring Shanahan, or Cowher (who I think will coach again) would be the better move but I don't think Jerry Jones is going to make that move.

I think he hires guys like Wade because it seems they'll never challenge his authority. Coaches that are Cowher and Shanahan's caliber (i.e. Parcells and Johnson) wont be bullied and allow him to completely run ever aspect of that team like he wants, so I think Wade is safe for now, and if they do fire him I expect someone equally weak to take his place.

I will strongly disagree with you on that,as along time Bronco fan I have never saw poor playcalling in my life until this season.Especially when you need one game to win to go to the playoffs and you have a coach who had over 140 yrds rushing in the first quarter against a Buffalo team who didnt want to be their until 5 min of the second quarter of that game.

Mike Shannahan this year consistently stop running the ball when it was workin for them I was watching the Bills game baffled why Mike Shannahan only ran the ball 6 times in the second half of that game when we could of easily won it.He allowed Jay Cutler to pass the ball 10+ times in the row until he decided to run it in the second half and by that time Buffalo had all the momentum.

imo he shouldnt had gotten fired but its not surprisng that he's gone either.
Denver put 8 RB on IR?????????? What are you talking about?
I feel that Denver has been in a daze since Williams was murdered.

From ESPN.....

Broncos fire Shanahan after 21 years with team

DENVER -- Mike Shanahan, the second longest-tenured NFL coach, was fired by the Denver Broncos on Tuesday after the team lost a three-game lead with three games to go in the AFC West.

Shanahan, 56, coached the Broncos since 1995, behind only Tennessee's Jeff Fisher in tenure with one team. He led the Broncos to consecutive Super Bowl victories in 1998 and 1999 and compiled a record of 146-89 with the team.

In a statement, Broncos owner Pat Bowlen said: "After giving this careful consideration, I have concluded that a change in our football operations is in the best interests of the Denver Broncos. This is certainly a difficult decision, but one that I feel must be made and which will ultimately be in the best interests of all concerned."

This season, the Broncos had an 8-5 record but lost their final three, including a 52-21 defeat Sunday night in San Diego that gave the Chargers the division title. They are the first NFL team to blow a three-game lead with three games to go.

He also was dismissed as director of football operations.

Shanahan, who also served as offensive coordinator in Denver and San Francisco and was head coach of the Raiders in 1988 and for the first four games of 1989, has been regarded as one of the league's best offensive minds.

But the Broncos failed this season on defense, allowing 448 points, third worst in the NFL. They were 29th, or fourth worst, in yards allowed.

Shanahan had three years left on his contract, worth about $20 million.

"I appreciate the 21 years that Mike Shanahan has given to the organization as an assistant and head coach, and the two Super Bowl wins in that time," Bowlen said in the statement. "His contributions hold a special place in Broncos history."

Bowlen said that the team will hold a news conference on Wednesday morning to make the announcement, and Shanahan will speak shortly thereafter.

Shanahan's firing is likely to put him in demand by other teams that have fired coaches: the New York Jets, Detroit, and Cleveland.

hell he should of been fired. That cracker hasn't done shit there since Elway left. He's a good offensive coordinator but that's about it. Mabye Dallas can hire him and let Jason Garrett go and fuck up the Lions some more.

NFL owners are not smart enough to understand only ONE team can win the superbowl each year? You won 2 superbowls the last 10 years that's pretty good. You lost all the talent and made mediocre running backs stars. I don't see the talent it's not the coach.

Shannahan was a victim of his own success, when you win as much as he did it spoils the fans and the owner. Jeff Fisher still hasn't won a Super Bowl for the Titans and he still kept his job through those losing seasons, hell even Andy Reid wont get fired. I wouldnt suprise me if the Broncos hire Shannhan's son Kyle who currently the OC for the Houston Texans. At least he left the team with a franchise QB, WR, and LT.

It's a sad day for us Broncos fans.

Since Bill Cowher declined, it seems like fate.
