Damn HP dropped the TP to $99 dollars

I went to wal mart this morning, the tabs were advertised the original price all I had to do was go online with my phone and pull up the sale price and got it for that

You were fortunate...grimey fat bitch told me Walmart.com and Walmart are not the same so they don't have to honor they online price...the site has the same disclaimer too :smh::smh::smh:

For those of you that lucked out Office Depot will still receive new shipments in-store so keep checking...the 1 around me is supposed to get new joints on Mon./Tues.

They won't sell you the demo/display unit bcuz it is limited to only run shit for the demo

Before I continue beating myself up over this sale...3 questions for those who have it...

a) does the Kindle app allow you to import/read epubs...?

b) and is there a comic book app that recognizes cbr/cbz...?

c) is there an app to convert movie files to the required format...?

My last hope is someone return they shit and they said they'll call me back to honor my pickup order that they didn't hold...I been running around for 7 fuckin hrs...shit was like a fuckin job

The CAC showed them BEST BUY'S sale price and HP.COM he got the last 16GB. Try SAMS also

looks like Bestbuy had intended to return the TouchPad to HP way before today's sale.

article from 8/16, like someone mentioned earlier these may end up for sale on HP's site.

Ya...the US Bestbuys gave up too early...

Some of y'all keep an eye out for Radioshack...they still have them in-store but they must think we still in the launch date cuz they still selling the 32gb for over $500

man the kindle app doesnt work...when i was using the tablet, the app said coming soon

i doubt if amazon even cares to fix it at this point

im reading other developers are done with it too and apologized to their customers

same thing happened to me at bustbuy once, i showed the cashier an online price for a ps3 controller at $35 in store it scanned at $49, when we looked at the webpage again it said off the bottom left (online price only)

i had an bunch of other coupons from best buy from my rewards card and 10% from bestbuy for my birthday etc so he looked out and override the price at the register but told me that its not common practice and up to managers discretion.

the best bet for people who are buying them now is to wait for the android port to come out...I'm gonna pass on this

one of my 2 orders from HP.com just went through. HP.com customer service probably were not staffed to handle all the orders. I made mine around 1040PM last night and the status finally changed from "verifying" to "being processed". I made my second order about 20 minutes later...

man amazon still has them in stock

why not buy it at the full price and let HP refund you the difference?

Na fuck that...I not paying full price for that piece of shit even if they do reimburse me...def not that serious...I can't even google straight forward answers to the questions I asked...I know me...the excitement was in the chase...I'd more than likely be pissed once I settled down w/ it and found out it probably can't do what I need it to do (read epubs + cbr/cbz files)

Damn tried another Officemax...they "have the in stock" but not allowed to sell them cuz they "defective"...fuck man...the Officedepot that fucked up my order ain't even picking up the phone...Radioshack have them in stock but still selling them @ the original price

I was there w/ all cacs...shit I got happy when I seen the cacs coming like ya I'm get some real service now but she told us all the same shit

I need it asap for a trip...I woulda used it on the trip and then decide whether to keep it or not based on that...the crazy shit is I was up and out the house early enough but I shoulda went to Officedepot instead of Walmart...but my attitude was Officedepot already had my shit on reserve so lemme try Walmart instead...then when I was @ Walmart Officedepot called and said they can't hold my shit and there's already a line out there...oh well...fuck it...

a lot of people over at slickdeals are saying that they are having success ordering through HP business...according to them you will get an error when checking out because of the traffic but keep refreshing....:dunno:

I'm on that precentral site and it seems like there is no legitimate cbr/cbz reader for the Touchpad...that's def a dealbreaker for me cuz that's mostly what I use the iPad for...got 1000s of comics in cbr/cbz format

Apparently there are already a couple of "teams" working on the port today - including the cats who did the Nook Color to Android port. With WebOS being built on a Linuix kernel I dont see how a stable build isnt released by the end of the month. The next few weeks will be interesting.... one more thing I actually find the stock joint useful - yes its not an iPad but for what I "needed" a tablet for this thing is a GREAT purchase...

Crazy Eddie - you should purchase from wherever you can regardless of price since HP will reimburse you for the cost - its a risk but with risk comes reward - I would just advise you not opening the box until its all cleared up.

I have an iPad already...it's not that serious...the advantage for me was getting it @ the low price off the bat...and if they don't make that port happen then the thing is useless imo...I finally calmed down and did some research and didn't realize how "barebones" the tablet is @ it's current stage w/ lil to no development/support on the way...it's a good investment for those waiting for the Droid port...but I have a trip coming up soon and was hoping to get some immediate use out of it...

Check out ComicShelf HD. Cost 1.99 works great

yeh HP is selling them, my card was charged around 8am for the order i placed last night. so they are on it, just trying to handle the traffic.

this has raised my interest in OS and app development. i will be joining those forums to
be in the mix of things.

Yes. You need an amazon account to use the app, I have not used the import tool but I see it in the options.

b) and is there a comic book app that recognizes cbr/cbz...?
Yes. Check out ComicShelf HD. Not free ($1.99)

c) is there an app to convert movie files to the required format...?
Yes. Download and install Handbrake on your computer. Copy converted vids to the HPTP.

Update... seems like Hp.com processed it and I have been taxed..

I do like it fam. It was a bad investment for $600. But it is a GREAT investment for $150. I am posting from the shit on vacation from my hotel's free WiFi right now. This was essential on the 6 hour plane ride, and even had the CAC next to me looking at it when I was watching True Blood in HD. You can store your music on it no problem, but all the bootleg videos have to be converted to mpeg4 video format with handbrake.

I posted the following in another thread but I will repost here.

To all of you soon to be Touchpad owners:

1. Fuck Yall! I bought mine full price! :smh:
2.Definitely update your TP fully before using it. They released an update two weeks ago that fixes the sluggishness of the factory release.
3.Get familiar w/ the Homebrew community. Its kind of like Apple's jailbreak community, except it is/was encouraged by HP.
4. Through the Homebrew community, look into overclocking the Kernel. My TP was fast before I overclocked it. Now the shit has two canisters of Nitrous Oxide and rocket propulsion ! (F15)
5. Follow @unixpsycho and @webosinternals in Twitter.
6. There are plenty of good apps so I won't get into it, but go to this forum and you will have many of your questions answered: http://forums.precentral.net/

forget the past go buy 2 more imo... where you at might be one of the last places that still have it :dunno:

Thanks indy!

I was starting to feel good about missing out on the deal...now I feel like shit again :cool:
