Damn E-40 is garbage

Silk da shocker and E-40 are run on sentence rappers

Busta Rhymes, Snoop Dogg, Suga Free, YG, MF Doom, Andre 3000, Too Short who else I know I’m missing some.

Run on sentence rappers are popular in west coast music.

Silkk da shocker was hardly rapping the others were.

I know some of them Sly and the Family Stone dudes from Vallejo was born in Texas including Sly himself. Spice 1 was born right outside of Dallas and moved to the Bay as a kid. Seem like all the blacks in the Bay from Louisiana and Texas. The railways back then have alot to do with it. Thats also why Southern artists like Pimp C, Geto Boys, etc in the 90s clicked so well with West Coast artists, same folks basically.
There’s certain areas that are like Family to the Bay. New Orleans, Houston, Dallas, Detroit and Kansas City are the major ones.

Marinatin on the corner with a chip in his phone
You can tell that the hillside was his home
Mo' scratch than the rest of the pushers
Cause he got a chop suey in the bushes

I was gonna come in here and say the same shit. I ain't a big fan so I can't tell you all of his albums and shit but this album right here is CLASSIC. Bought that bitch at Best Buy that shit was cold from front to back. Hardest record on there was "White Girl" with Bun and Juelz and them on it.
This was my fav. Shit went hard screwed and chopped too!
All 3 verses (E, Bun, and 8Ball) were tight

E-40 and Spice 1 collabs always went hard!

He is TERRIBLE live, but he has made a smash in every decade since the 90's. To be relevant that long, is impressive in my book. The "Mail Man", and "In a Major Way" are some of the best albums in hip hop from start to finish. With slang rheoric that is still used today.

I also give him major props for owning and controlling his business. E40 has already controlled his intellectual property, invested in stocks before it became rapper popular, and he owns MAJOR real estate on high return areas, going back in the early 90's. Dude is is a major economic mogul, he just doesn't flash his pockets like most.

E-40 has his own wine

YES

I think the biggest take away I got from 40 was I remember being a child and seeing him on TV and shit. I remember "Sprinkle Me"back in the 90's...and its 2020 and he still making music and making hits. Hate him or love him...he and Short Dogg have stood the test of time far better than other guys who y'all flock to.
40 is a rap legend, I know in the Midwest he is. Songs like Captain save a ho and Million Dollar Spot with 2Pac and B Legit were legendary around these parts. Sprinkle Me and Dusted n Disgusted! I can keep going, 40 water a legend not only for his songs but his lingo as well. Carlos Rossi was da shit... Lol

Great Migration. Real ADOS history.

"Sprinkle me" was my shit...

I fucked with a lot of those bay area MC's back in the day "JT the bigga figga, Mac Mall, Dru down etc. but didn't really fuck with E-40...I knew a brotha back when I lived out West that was a HUGE E40 fan...I didn't get it initially, but was receptive to listening to him and started appreciating him more than I had.

Name one.
Please believe it..in the early 2000's rappers like snoop and other west coast rappers was saying..please believe it..Jody moma in baby boy even said it in the movie(sorta)at first I thought snoop started it but it was bay niggaz I was told..this was like twenty years ago...

Dog, this ain’t Bloomberg. This is rap.

Maybe if spent more time working on the craft instead spotting a good investment deal this thread would go in a different direction.

Hip Hop is all things, stop the bullshit. We respect an artist for all that they are, in completion. So okay if he was a super emcee but was broke as fuck like say De La Soul ( who I love), folks would dump on that side of the argument. His economic development is extremely important to Black people and Black artists. E40 is not Rakim lyrically, but his songs, as a part of his total discography are legendary, decade after decade. You ain't gotta like a style, but if a artists makes a HIT, in ever decade since 1990, that means something, in my book.

For example, I am not the biggest Scarface fan, but aint no way in hell would I talk sideways, and try and say he is not a legend, just cause I am not from Houston. Just to be clear Scarface has a better discography than E40.....im not fucking insane
E40 has some of the most clever word gymnastics ever, the beats slap spanning different styles over time, and his ability to teach within the confines of hood shit, mixed with corporate shit is amazing.

Enough stanning for me.

I don't know why as a a East coaster I appreciated the bay rappers so much

I think the source and Video Music Box showing love really helped that

I thought Dru Down Suga Free and dem were incredible
