The fact that the father pays for everything, refused to let her leave when she threatened it and she attempted to get her boyfriend to stay despite what her father was saying indicates he and her mother used money and material things to raise her so she now feels entitled.
Also, despite the young brother (I'm assuming) not being employed I can respect the way he carried himself especially when he told her he wasn't going to disrespect her father even at her request.
