The funny thing is that Tom has molded a better defense in Chicago in half a season than he had with the Celtics during the last two years.

And Tom is getting that 92 allowed with a new team....my bad...a new "one man" team thats full of players that just started playing with each other this year. It isn't yet clear how many people will take the league up on this offer.

Actually Noah's transition will be smoother than expected. The reason why is that he is not a scorer primarily. All he has to do is defend and rebound. However his strength will be off because of lack of lifting due to a hand injury. Once he is able to lift again he will be cool but his impact alone will electrify the Bulls. His energy won't be lacking.

Our team is GOOD....but we depend too much on our starting 5...with Rose being the main scoring option... Kover is really the only scoring option on our bench...the rest are pure defense IMO.

(notes) can play defense.
The guy was terrible, for a few years, but now he's the lead man on the NBA's best defensive team. Is that a fluke, or has he really improved? Is this for real, or just the vicissitudes of a 50-game sample size?

Monday night, Batum told this to, like, many, many, many members of the media:

"We know that Derrick Rose is a good offensive player," Batum said. "But you have to play defense, too. He can't guard Dre. You gotta play defense. He can't play defense, so that's why we put Dre inside and try to attack him. He did a great job. Had 25 (points) and 11 (assists) tonight."

"He can't play defense." Seems pretty cut and dry to me as to what Batum thinks. Whether he's right or wrong, "he can't play defense" is pretty to the point. Straight up the ole kilt, y'know?

Statistically, he's one of the league's most effective on-ball defenders, and he got his tail handed to him Monday night by a very, very good point guard. Overall, because a good chunk of NBA defense is done away from the ball, I'd call Rose's defense "above average," because he's very poor in transition, and not a very good screen-and-roll defender. Regardless of whether or not Carlos Boozer(notes) is his partner in that particular possession.

Overall, I'd call Nicolas Batum a top-five flip-flopper. Easily an MVP candidate.

Rose is actually the 3rd best defender on the Bulls i.e. a team that is damn near the best defensive team in the league. Noah and Brewer are better than Rose defensively.and Deng has improved a lot. Rose isnt a great defender....but he's improved a lot. And at the tender age of 22...he'll only get better. Rose couldnt handle Miller that night...and he'll have other night whereas he cant handle the more seasoned PG's, but like I stated before...he's 22 and still growing.

IMO....the player that should get talked about for not playing better defense is Boozer. He's the one that got embarrassed last night.

As for that loss last night...and the one before that one...they say Tom Tibby is furious with his team about the 2 game losing streak. They said on Chicago ESPN radio earlier today that he worked the hell out the Bulls via practice in Utah. They usually get breaks here and there after games...but not this time....Tom got them running double sessions and all kinds of BS...lol

As for Rose...they say he may laugh at the criticism..but deep down inside it bothers him. Deep down inside he knows that even though the Bulls are starting to be the talk of the town and he's getting consistent highlights like Lebron, Kobe, etc on ESPN and elsewhere...he still feels like he's not on the level or gets the respect of a Chris Paul, Deron Williams or even Funny built Rondo. Rondo has a ring.... & Chris Paul and Deron Williams are more seasoned talents.

Seeing Rose go up against Deron Williams later today will be interesting. Especially considering how he played versus a less talented player like Andre Miller.

When we get Noah back things will change for the better IMO. They say dude has been working hard. Rose couldnt handle Miller that night...and he'll have other night whereas he cant handle the more seasoned PG's, but like I stated before...he's 22 and still growing.

IMO....the player that should get talked about for not playing better defense is Boozer. He's the one that got embarrassed last night.

As for that loss last night...and the one before that one...they say Tom Tibby is furious with his team about the 2 game losing streak. They said on Chicago ESPN radio earlier today that he worked the hell out the Bulls via practice in Utah. They usually get breaks here and there after games...but not this time....Tom got them running double sessions and all kinds of BS...lol

As for Rose...they say he may laugh at the criticism..but deep down inside it bothers him. Deep down inside he knows that even though the Bulls are starting to be the talk of the town and he's getting consistent highlights like Lebron, Kobe, etc on ESPN and elsewhere...he still feels like he's not on the level or gets the respect of a Chris Paul, Deron Williams or even Funny built Rondo. Rondo has a ring.... & Chris Paul and Deron Williams are more seasoned talents.

Seeing Rose go up against Deron Williams later today will be interesting. Especially considering how he played versus a less talented player like Andre Miller.

When we get Noah back things will change for the better IMO. They say dude has been working hard. When he comes back things will begin to spread out some...and the overall rebounding, energy and defense will improve some also. Im actually looking forward to our next game versus the "streaking" Heat. By the time we play them theyll probably be the best team out East..sitting at #1.

I chalk it up to Rose taking breaks on D because he has no one to take the load off him when it comes to running the offense. Its Rose breaking down the D, its Rose and Booz in the pick and roll, its Rose running, and finishing the break. I mean Ill take avg D against a good PG if it means him saving some gas for the 4th qtr, and later on this season. Roses D aint the problem IMO, its the fact that he IS the fuckin offense. Its nice Thimbs is starting to play Watson and Rose at the same time, but we need another solid PG... I wish we hadent traded Hinrich, I know he mad a lot, but he could defend the 2 spot and run point when needed... Just what the Bulls are missing right now
